Spring has Sprung

British broadsheet 'The Times' says that spring starts at the end of June in the UK, but here in Ibiza it well and truly started on March 21st! The weekend commenced with a concert by Los Mojinos Escozíos in San Jose when so many people turned up that only a fraction could actually see the boys, and peaked on Sunday in glorious sunshine and warm weather. In San Jose there was a vintage car and motorbike rally through the streets of the municipality with the cars ending up at Cala Conta where hundreds of curious onlookers were able to give them the once-over. We also had international rugby at the Can Misses stadium as 1500 people, which is not bad for a Sunday lunchtime 3 PM kick off, saw Portugal defeat Spain by 35 to 19. For the religiously athletic the traditional walk to sa Capelleta d´en Serra, a small, garden shed sized chapel in the hills near Benimussa, took place with over 200 people joining in the fun. Roll on next weekend!

in spring the main problem is the pollen from the 15 million pine trees here. it's yellow and everywhere!

Wine Making Exhibition.
As part of the Sant Josep Fiestas, the local folklore group have set up an interesting exhibition explaining the traditional way in which the local wine, "Vi pages" was & still is made. This fascinating display is open to the public everyday from 19.30 to 21.30 hours until the 28th in the exhibition room upstairs in the Town Hall.

Spring has definately not sprung here yet :(

Quite sunny on and off, but the temperature has dropped again today - quite a chilly wind.

The decidous trees and shrubs are late coming out this year.
