Spanish Holiday 2018 prices expected to rise 5-10% - Thomas Cook

if the price of a full english is one of the benchmarks you use to judge whether to visit a foreign country, then you're giving us all bad name

The discussion is regarding holiday prices. On a side note I was mentioning some examples of cost in Turkey

Could it be that prices are staying roughly the same for 2018? I’ve just booked Sol House (no longer Mixed by Ibiza Rocks) and getting 13 nights for same as it cost this year for 11 nights. It is a week later, first 2 weeks in October (fly Saturday 29 September) rather than last week September and 1st week October, but doubt that would make much difference, if any. Or maybe just because I’ve booked a lot earlier perhaps.

Other difference may be flying scheduled BA flights from Aberdeen via London, booking hotel direct, and transfers sorted out too. Means no wasting time with trains to Glasgow and the overnight stay there that I’ve always had in the past with Jet2. I did compare though, and the Jet2 price was more or less the same and works out less without the Glasgow train and hotel.

I seriously don‘t think IBZ will get any more expensive. after this summer the hoteliers are aware their prices were already too high
Another option is to raise the prices only at the beginning and the end of the season because, as pointed by Abel Matutes Prats (general manager of Palladium Hotel Group), in high season "they've already reached its upper limit". "If we can have a longer and stronger season like this year there is probably room to try to raise prices in may, june or september" he said.

Noticed the big players all have generic promo codes and discounts for the summer months going on for all destinations. Obviously the good weather at home doesn’t help them, nor does the World Cup and the poor exchange rate for the pound. But you could have seen two of those three factors coming so they should have priced accordingly.

As ive put in another thread somewhere Ibiza hotels move upmarket isnt necessarily what the market wants, the Costamar in SanAn for example was a 2* hovel I wouldent put my dog in, hated staying there! But it is now the 3/4* Wikiwoo with prices to match, not stayed there yet but it looks miles better, but did the customers who used to stay at the Costamar want to pay hundreds more for a ‘boutique’ hotel? And are they now going to Maga/Zante/Malia/Napa instead?

Costamar wasn't great but it was ideal.

What the hell is that Wikiwoo all about?

Bit of an upmarket hotel bubble, arse will fall out the market.

Went on expedia this morning to see if i could better the deal i got for 4 nights in September and tbh prices dont look much better. I booked about 4 months ago.

Costamar was sound, my first ever digs in Ibiza. Hardly saw much of the pool though. One of those where I didnt surface until 3 in the afternoon

September has been silly overpriced for years now. Too many people waiting for schools to go back thinking it'll be cheaper - all with the same idea so failed to get the result ! I think it's mainly July and August the prices had become stupid compared to previous years.

I hadnt factored in that im already in a scumbag roach motel. Not much movement there although pricier rooms did have % off.

It doesn't help when there are tourist taxees to be added, sometimes in advance and sometimes on arrival. In years to come us Brits may have for find cash for a visa too...thanks Brexit.

Of course the island will punish those going in July and August; I'd never visit those times anyway (too hot/busy as well) but I notice a significant drop in September yet prices aren't that much lower as alluded to above. However October, cheaper, still warm but with the occasional stormy day is just as wonderful. Annoyingly though you get all the posters "Closing party this, closing party that"...hey guys, I've only just come!!!
