Spanish, Catalan and Ibicenco?

SO...

answering the question from triple s.... speak english, shout a lot, speeeaaakkk slowly, use hand gestures or take a pen and paper and draw what you want ! easy.

I don't if Baler is considered to be a seperate language or is a dialect of Catalan. They were all derived from Latin, so whichever. And it's not like any two towns really that much a like unless they are really close together. That goes for everywhere.

From what I understand its a variation of old Catalan from Tarragona, mixed in with Arabic and Italian.
 
Thanks again for the replies guys, yeah in all the times I have been to Ibiza, I have never had a problem communicating in English but I have always wanted to speak Spanish so this year I am going to try and use it as much as possible. I'm sure I will use the wrong verb conjugations many times but I'm sure they will understand

Oh and purple_lean using spanish to impress some of the local ladies???? I assure you the though had never crossed my mind :oops:
 
if you think you'll impress spanish girls with a few cheesy phrases from a guidebook, you're in for a rude awakening

you need to understand you are just seasonal tourist cattle and spanish girls generally swerve well clear

They simply melt into putty with such classics as "Donde esta la biblioteca" and "Que calor es su camisa?"

And as cattle we may be, it's possible anywhere.

Just because you fail miserably with the señoritas doesn't mean everyone else does. ;)
