> Space Opening Fiesta 2012

f**kin hell Bez, you must be rolling in it :D

I remember in Amnesia a round came to 56euro , I gave in 60 and the girl didnt even offer me my change , just straight in the tips! If she'd given a bit of a cheeky grin or something it wouldnt have been so bad but she just carried on with her face like thunder....

I usually tip €10-€20 on my first drink to receive prompt service for the rest of the night.

I was actually contemplating a hefty tip on my first round around the 15-20min mark in a bid to improve my waiting time on the next visit.

But by the time it got to the 30+ minutes, and literally everybody either side of me had been served, i just plain had to walk away before I said something.

Later on in the night, we divided & conquored, strategically positioning ourselves at various points around the bar! Worked to a degree, but still took an illogical amount of time!

agree with the bar comment and only other gripe i noticed was the amount of complete idiots in there that ive never seen the like of in space or any other ibiza club before bar some san an venues! see a few groups looking as if they was after trouble creating a **** vibe around them must have been their first time in ibiza looking at the way they was acting dont people like that realise **** like that doesnt go in ibiza!?:spank:

Not really.... but understand what its like to serve a big crowd as I worked as a barman in my youth:)

I think the locals have the right idea by partying on cheap booze in the carpark before the event. Great atmosphere with the car sound systems pumping and everybody having a good time

I haven't read this thread but I was throughly dissapointed with the space opening party. Massive let down.

If thats the best space can do for an opening party then it was very clear to see that they have lost all interest and they don't care about the punters anymore.

I don't think I heard one good track all night, all of the djs were big name egotistical show offs who were all going through the motion.....

What is the point of Dubfire??!!! I swear he played the same track on loop all night!! Absolutly dreadful.

5 rooms of music and all drivel,

Also.... Mr Doris on the outside terrace was an absolute disgrace and should never be allowed to play anywhere ever again. He was given the terrace at space opening and he got it soo wrong, but instead of changing it he kept with his rubbish.

Its gonna take something very special to get me to give space anymore of my hard earned cash.

Tell me more about Mr Doris?

Read a few of these reviews and especially comments about the wrong type of people. I have noticed this happening over the last couple of years especially and think it is down to the new popularity of Urban House (or what ever you want to call it) and the type of people that it now attracts.

I watched the opening live on be@tv and nearly every guy looked the same with an over sized vest on and bottle of beer in the hand. During Orbital there were people just standing around and talking, or texting on their phones.

Looked at DC10 opening videos on youtube and lots of people standing about stroking chins and talking.

What happened to going in, finding your spot and letting yourself go? It all looks a bit like a fashion thing these days and the music follows.

my 2c

one of the best space opening parties i've been to for ages (and i've been to a few)

orbital were amazing outside. i didn't stay for lawler or dubfire as i'm not a fan, so then moved into sunset terrace, which is always my favourite place. no idea who was djing, but cafe ole hosted it and they rocked it. the music was very accessible, everyone was dancing, and the atmosphere was super friendly.

afterwards went inside for sasha, who was excellent at times. we were near the front on the left and always had room to dance even to the end of his set, so for those who felt the main room was full, it's worth moving around. would like to have been outside in the car park for cox' set, but wasn't to be.

shame you didn't have a good time robo, stivi said he saw you - would love to have met up for a drink. i actually thought the musical variety was so good this year!

ps i don't 'get' dubfire either ;)

Thats we were hoping for but as soon that doris bloke came on he ruined all of that.

+1

I'm pretty tired of seeing people standing around and not dancing. I think smartphones are partly to blame. 'Oh, I don't quite like this track as much as the last one, so I'll pull out my phone and stuff around with that for a bit".

It is the TOWIE crowd who are now attracted to Ibiza and less people will indulge in clubs. It is all champagne and standing chatting to people these days. Some of the music doesn't help either.

Some of the comments about morons standing about looking beautiful with their pristine hair and matching eyebrows etc are spot on!!!!

Many of the people surrounding me in the car park/discoteca and in the garden at DC-10 were doing sweet FA!!! Meanwhile i'm right in the middle with my arms and legs flying all over the place ( i sem to be part of the dying breed that simply doesn't care what he looks like ).. i'm a music-head, not a fashion-head!!

The VIP generation absolutely reek!!! Although it's not just clubs that are like this nowadays.. Football stadiums are the same!! Idiots telling you to stop shouting/cheering as they're trying to talk to someone on the phone etc etc...

On a few occasions in the discoteca i let out a few cheers to show my appreciation for the dj and a few people just looked at me as if i wasn't allowed to cheer... the same thing happened in the terrace last October when Cox closed Space on the Monday morning... I tried to get a few "Coxy" chants going but no-one was interested..

It seems like the motto nowadays is "more VIP, less atmosphere"...

My review is still in the making by the way.... :p

Look forward to the review.

If you can find a good crowd who have a similar interest in letting their hair down it is great, but it is becoming more difficult. It used to be everyone (and I mean every single person) going for it. I don't understand people who pay 50+ euros to stand about, chat, walk back and forward across the club, text and check their phones.

Time for a revolution.

^^ This is why i havin been to The Big 3 clubs since 96/97. So much more on the island.Reading these reviews i think Grial, bubbles, zoo and Sankeys will be the best bet this year.8)

don't get me wrong... i record plenty of short videos as a memento of the various nights ( plus they're great for the reviews ) but checking emails etc is taking it a bit too far...

i'd long to go out for a big night out where the crowd was going off, similar to the old videos of early warehouse raves..

no-one was interested in looking cool then... even my local techno club is far different now to what it was 10yrs ago.. girls used to be seen in any old t-shirt and everyone was soaking in sweat!!
