> Space Opening Fiesta 2012

First time I've been here for the opening parties and whilst Ushuaia with Luciano etc was very good, the Space opening was one serious ****ing party! The dance floor at Space always seems like such a happier place than anywhere else. Both of Dubfire's sets were ridiculously good.

had an amazing time, dubfire on the flight club stole the show for me, incredible set. got there at 4 in the afternoon and left at 7am, couldnt move near the end was fked!
The main terrace has really changed imo, couldnt get into the music but the discoteca was going rite off! flight club was rammed to the point you couldnt breathe let alone move, however inside the club esp the terrace seemed a lot less busy than previous years, think a lot of people left when the outside shut.

One of the last tracks dubfire played outside was insane. Crowd was going nuts!

Space was incredible!! got there at 6pm and left at 10:30am on monday morning... lawler was great outside then orbital came on and brought the vibe down a bit i thought ( i still loved them though )... the bpm's increased again when dubfire came on and then again for coxy...

only stayed for the first hour of cox as i wanted to hear sasha's set in the main room... raging that i found out in the morning that he ended up playing for over 4hrs... the main room was beyond packed for the sasha, lawler and dubfire sets... by the time it got about 30mins into the dubfire set i couldn't take it any longer as i was getting annoyed at the constant stream of people walking backwards and forward and basically getting in the way when i was trying to dance... i went to find somewhere quieter.. i ventured up to el salon but it was packed as well so i ended up going out to the long area down the side of space... spent about 2hrs out there.. there were some people in extreme states out there... one girl collapsed in front of us and security rushed over.. i thought it might have been serious as everyone looked worried as they tried to pick her up off the ground... but she came to as they were picking her up and ended up lashing out at the security.. i don't know how it happened but when they dragged her off to check her out her top was away up over her head and her breasts were on full display...

when i got back into the main room there was actually a better sized crowd and less people shoving past.. all the dj's were great.. from about 8am onwards there was less than 20 of us on the whole main room floor... this was brilliant fun as it felt like our own private club.. we left at 10:30am as i didn't think remo would end up playing to about 5 people as it was by that stage.. still don't actually know if they did decide to call it a day by 10:30 or whether they let it run to the midday finishing time..

dc-10 was great as well... didn't get there until 9:30pm and wasn't into the front door until 2hrs later thanks to the shockingly bad queue management ( there wasn't one ).. just a mass of people trying to push in.. a few girls in the queue looked visibly worried... it really could have been another love parade disaster... some complete idiots ( mostly completely ignorant italians ) were just barging their way through.. i had to grab one by the neck and throw him back again.. people like that are just scum!! it was well beyond packed once inside... we had to stand in the corner beside the merchandise shop.. we eventually found some space at the entrance to the narrow corridor down to the toilets.. music was incredible!! dubfire was up dancing in the dj area and he looked like he was still clearly on the go from space... thankfully some people decided to leave once the garden finished at 2am... they would have never got everyone inside!! i went straight to the main room where klock was pumping out some seriously banging techno!!! it was unbelievable!!! ended up staying in there until the end at 6am.... didn't go to the main room once... got back to san antonio at 7:30 this morning and sat on the balcony until midday listening to the 2hr set lawler did in miami wmc this year that was ripped from b@tv... still in bed here as i type this as i'm in a bit of a mess...

gonna try to drag myself out at some point for a fruit platter and then head to the curry club...

Business as usual then.

is this ibiza ...

... or a definition of ****ing H-E-L-L :?:

i found both space and dc10 openings were very busy, but nowhere as bad as in other years. compared to last year's dc10 closing this years opening was actually absolutely bearable.

more insights to follow

Very jealous Ric.

It always happens when the Flight Club bit shuts that the rest of the club gets busy for a few hours. I always use that time to recharge my batteries and get ready for the final stint.

Shame the entrance to DC-10 still isn't sorted out.. (surely some fences can sort that out?) but I'm pleased the music inside made up for it.

I have never seen the attraction of the opening parties because all anyone ever does is moan about getting squashed. i've never been but wouldn't even consider it after hearing terrifying reviews from my friends and what I've seen on this forum :?

the opening weekend really wasn't too bad this year. those who ever attended to an amnesia or dc10 closing party will agree.

Id love to go to space opening even though it gets rammed at times. I've been just after then for we love and cocoon opening and the atmosphere and people in ibiza at that time was amazing - people there for the music. Ibiza is a much better place outside the peak months of July and August in so many ways. I wouldn't let the crowds stop me from going at the start of the season.

Is there anywhere i the world with slower bartenders? :spank:

This.

The one thing that slightly marred my night. Was fantastic as always, don't get me wrong. But the service behind the bar was simply atrocious. Really, really bad. In both the Discoteca & Terraza.

They were clearly understaffed, which didn't help. But the staff that were there just plain didn't have a clue what was going on. I appreciate it may have been their first few days/weeks in the job, but it really needs to get sorted out.

Never had that complaint about Space, or indeed any of the big clubs in Ibiza before. Even when Pacha is proper chocker bar waiting times have never been an issue for me, but to say it was ridiculous on Sunday would be an understatement.

Shame, as other than that it was an amazing event as ever :)

I found the service ok for such a large crowd. Ive seen worse. For busy events I usually tip €10-€20 on my first drink to receive prompt service for the rest of the night.
