SPACE opening 2008

Are the closing parties like this as well?

well, with space opening and space closing it's always the same IMO. if you arrive mid-afternoon, you'll have just a small queue to get in and will be fine for all the fun until midnight. if you only arrive late, there are always big queues and you'll wait.

and then, there's always the point (at midnight), when they close the outside bits. everyone tries to get inside the remaining dancefloors (discoteca, main terrace, el salon, redbox, premier etage). here's 2 possibilities: a) find a place for the next 3 hours until people start leaving again (because from about 3am it's alright again) or b) just leave if you're fed up. it's always like that, with space opening AND closing - between midnight and about 3am, it's just too busy.

Cheers Nostrum. I was thinking about going for the We Love and Cocoon closers but i'm not so sure now after the feedback i've had regarding crowds. Hmm...

I don´t think it´s fair to mock this guy for complaining about the opening party, it must have been a big disappoinment for him.

I´d just like to add that we refunded customers immediately if they were unable to get in on the day.

But for me the Space opening and closing parties are all about the Flight Arena (aka the car park). To get the most out of the day, i turn up between 3-4 in the afternoon and enjoy an amazing party under the sun, with plenty of room to dance ! As Stivi says, the outdoor arena closes at midnight so then everyone moves inside and for me it´s a bit too much so i tend to leave around midnight.

There were still queues to get into Space when i left at that time on the opening, which i thought was incredible.

As for We Love, it´s busy but nothing compared to the Space opening party. But it´s not one of the biggest parties in Ibiza for no reason ... so many great dj´s to be seen in such an incredible club !

My thoughts here
i wasn´t there - but i love the review !

"...
2pm - La Guardia Civil, the scary ones in olive green outside,
are having a great time.
Not content with sunning themselves to the sounds of the Sunset Terrace
out front, they're also desperately trying to make new friends,
randomly taking clubbers into a little cabin "for a chat".
Please be careful everyone.
...
8pm - For those turning up now, good luck.
The guest list queue is half way to the airport
and the nearest place to park is the airport!

... and get a smile after handing over 20 euros for a drink
and not getting change.
Muchas Gracias.

My thoughts here

"3pm - The Parking Terrace is very busy already and not for the first time today, the sound of the Mark Knight/Funkagenda remix of Laurent Garnier´s "The Man with the Red Face" causes rapture amongst the cosmopolitan crowd. Surely the tune of the day."

This makes me want to eat my face :x

Yeah, quite true about them not giving you your change back sometimes too...

They tried that one with me but I gently reminded her that she'd owed me 5 euros.

Like they're not dipping your pocket enough.

1am - Sasha is playing in the Discoteca; enough to cause a roadblock at the best of times. A few voices lament the Ableton software and the distance that seems to create between fans and the man like. Then, almost as if he could hear the grumbles, a full on, epic, peaking ´Sasha` moment emerges from nowhere to silence the dissenters.

Ahhhh feel a rush! :):):)

"...
5pm ... ´Captain Elbows` seems to be everywhere
and a man in nothing more than a pair of orange Speedoes waltzes past;
nobody bats an eyelid.

Only in Space.

ps:
grego - are you really this "gregorio" ?
if yes - what are you doing "over there" ?

Superb review Grego.

I was at closing last year too and I thought it was just about right crowd wise, pleasantly busy but nothing like the other week.

For those that had to leave and missed DT on the new terrace dont worry yourself, I thought it was a strange set (and I am a fan). How did anyone else find it?

I fall into that category...why strange? What sort of stuff did he play?

His review of the gig (on DTtourism) was a little vague, not overly enthusiastic...seemed more concerned with big upping how good Thursdays are going to BE...

icey, sí!

keeping myself very busy is what i´m doing.

will i see you around somewhere?

scott - cool mate, see ya next time
