I really enjoyed Closing this year at Space. The line up was thinner than last year, more residents than big names, but I don't think that was neccessarily a bad thing.
I really liked what they'd done in the car park. It was a much better use of space, and Bacardi clearly spunked a lot of cash on the production.
Re: the sound 'problems' I'm not really sure what Morales was on about. An arena like that, set up on a temporary basis, and with flat walls around will always have echo, so its hard to put speakers everywhere or it'll sound all over the place. It wasn't really loud early on, but it never is, and when we were down on the floor it sounded fine. It was only at the far reaches of the crowd it got quieter. I was also taking pics up on the stage and it seemed ok from there, even when the monitors were turned down. To be honest I've DJed in a fair few places where the monitors are as loud or louder than the club.... anyway, while I can understand he may have been a bit peeved, he just came across like a bit of a ***** having a rant like that.
DJ Oliver was very good, really played a good transition between Morales and Lawler (from I feel Love by Morales to Lawler's really techy stuff) and Steve Lawler was ace. He didn't seem that pissed off when I was up on the stage, but you can never tell that easily I guess.
Tania and Jose de Divina were facking awesome as they always are. My favourite set of the night. I didn't catch much of inside to be honest, and Tong wasn't much cop either, but the sunset terrace was good crack when I was in there.
It was very full very early on, but I don't think it was as crammed as it has been in the past, so hats off for not just filling it as much as they could.
I bailed before Morillo as I wanted to rest for DC10, and I think he's rubbish anyway (something that was confirmed by a few people I know that did see him).
