Yesterday on Sunday (7th March) morning at about 6am, the owner and two executives of the Sound Factory at Hell's Kitchen club in New York City were arrested after federal agents and NYPD officers moved in as part of a raid.

The trio were charged with promoting and permitting the widespread sale of drugs and face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. 8O

Sound Factory usually draws between 3,000 and 6,000 people to the club, especially at the afterparties that start at around 4am and go on until the afternoon. This is not the first time Sound Factory has suffered problems: In 1999 and 2003 the city filed court actions against Sound Factory and other clubs calling them a public nuisance and tried to shut them down.

"The whole club scene is generally one we want to encourage in the city, but they have to be run legally. The owners and managers of Sound Factory chose dollars over decency," said Mr. David Kelley, the United States attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Sound Factory is closed this weekend and whether or not it reopens is unclear at this time.

They really have decided to shut down the whole clubscene

Now clubbers, tomorrow maybe jews? Or men with blonde hair? Or lefthanded? They all are DIFFERENT :!:

Yes, I just read it in the paper today. I remember when they shut down Twilo a few years ago :( Now Soundfactory (didn't really do too much partying there). That's why I do most of my partying in Ibiza during the summer. New York nightlife hasn't been the same since we lost Twilo (my all time favorite N.Y club).

Bad news fori the New Yorkers.
