This is driving me crazy!

I have no sound on my windows xp. Although I can hear a faint bleep noise if I have new mail, etc....

I have done the control panel, check volumn/mute/sound devices, etc..... Still, no joy.

???????? what else can I try?

maybe the wires between your two speakers are broken...., rather than the connection wire..

Yes in the device manager there is a big yellow ? next to: 2 wire USB Remote NDIS Ethernet

No there isn't one when I expanded the sound, video and game controller

is there an entry like "SoundMAX Intregrated Audio" ??

If so right click, uninstall & reboot your computer
