Some questions about Ibiza

Alright, me and my mates are planning on going to Ibiza this year but we really don't have a clue where to go/when to go etc so i thought i'd find out as time is running out :D Sorry if the questions i ask sound rather simple but want to get this right so we have a decent holiday.

To help answer the questions, we mainly want to go to Ibiza when it is at it's busiest and the main dj's are there, we're into mainly trance. Does anyone have a schedule from last year so this can be worked out ( i assume the dates will be roughly the same this year)?

Where is the best place to stay? Have looked on the internet and i see many places in Ibiza, San Antonio & Ibiza Town seem to be the main destinations, which is best? We want to be near to the main clubs. And whatever location is best, are there any hotels etc that are better than others, any you can recommend?

Are there any things that we should see while we are there, any specific club events etc or other things?

And last but not least, how much is a decent holiday to Ibiza likely to cost, for one week.

If i missed anything out that you thinks relevant to a holiday in Ibiza, feel free to add :D

I appreciate any feedback that you can give me :)

Cheers.

Allan.

Hi Allan

OK - where to start....

As you know there are two 'main' sides to the island:

San Antonio which has the West End, Mambo, Cafe Del Mar, Savannah,Eden & Es Paradis. It also has Kanya & Coastline for pool / warm up parties and Bar M, Orange Corner etc. Around the bay (15 min walk-ish) is San Antonio Bay where there are a large number of hotels and many UK tour operators use this for package deals including families. This side of the island tends to be British dominated although not entirely.

On the other side of the island you have Eivissa (aka Ibiza Town) and it's equivalent of San an Bay (sort of) is Platja D'en Bossa where there are a number of hotels and Bora Bora Beach plus Space. In Ibiza town you will find a much more international crowd, and Pacha & El Divino clubs.

Slap bang in the middle on the main road are Privilege and Amnesia clubs. Neither is walkable from Either San An or Ibiza town, either due to distance or safety (there have been too many deaths on the main road, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)

Me advice would be to choose your spot based on your most likely activities. If you are going to be clubbing at night, and sleeping in the day then it would make sense to base yourself near your most visited club. If you are beach dwellers then take that into account.

Club entry is between 20 to 50 euros but discounts are easily obtained from pre parties and ticket agents all over the island. Ask around and you'll be fine.

Travel is fairly easy with good bus routes and taxis are not expensive - especially if there's a group of you to split the bill. There are often shortages of taxis in san an between 11pm and 2am as people move out for the night so be aware of that.

I'm sure you'll have a great time. The island has so much to offer. If you are going to get a named accommodation package then the reviews section of this site will give you some background info.

One final tip is that drinks in clubs are EXPENSIVE. Don't go out to a main club night with your drinking head on. There are many bars that can supply you with the same drinks for literally a quarter of the price so if you're on a budget this will make a big difference. I reckon a main club night will cost Eur 100 including ticket if you have 8 waters.

Good Luck! :)

Think Jam Man has covered almost everything! :P

The main trance night is of course the UK's Cream - based at Amnesia.

Also last year Armin Van Buuren's night Armada launched (also at Amnesia)

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys, especially Jam Man :D, you have been very helpful!

One more question though, what week would you recommend going, are there any specific dates that are likely to be busier/more trance events? It looks as is most of the main DJ's arrive at the start of July? I want to see as many as possible, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, M.I.K.E, Ferry Corsten etc.....

Cheers.

It's too early to tell at the moment.

Tiesto is at Cream which has a long season. Armin VB's night started late in 2004 but that doesnt mean it will again this year, M.I.K.E. appeared at Armada only I think (Armin VB's night at Amnesia) and Ferry Corsten is at Judgement Sundays (Judge Jules night @ Eden) but not every week.

You'll have to wait for the party calender to be published for more definate dates...

Cheers for the reply stuie, that's fair enough, i read somewhere that the dates are likely to be published mid-april though? What should i do, just book the holiday and hope i am there when those dj's are there or what? :S

basically so long as you book between july and beginning of september the trance nights will be on and if that's your thing you're not gonna be disappointed. theres always a decent night to go to/dj to see.
