Some Ibiza questions

Have to disagree with you on that. I have no interest whatsoever in the music on offer in Ibiza's big clubs, but having been to Ibiza last year I loved it. I'm more of an Indie man and Ibiza's nightlife actually caters for that a lot better than your typical holiday destination. Heading back out in 11 days and can't wait. I'm actually going to be going to Es Paradis one night...for their new Indie night!

You've sort of missed my point. You're going to Ibiza because it offers you something that you can't get elsewhere. I was talking about a group of girls going to Ibiza, dressing up with L plates, glow sticks and (probably) cock shaped novelty balloons/whistles etc, and going out to cheesy bars to drink cheap cocktails and battery acid shots. My point is you can do that anywhere, and certainly much cheaper and more appropriate than Ibiza. Like Benidorm. Or Brighton. Or Southend.

Most people specifically pick Ibiza because it's the best place for music, atmosphere, and like-minded people. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of booking a holiday to Magaluf or somewhere like that - hundreds of 18 year olds covered in glow paint, pop music DJs, people throwing up in the streets and shagging on the beach. I'd hate it.

Why go to Benidorm if you can do it in Ibiza?
Some of my friends have just gone to Magaluf for a week, that cost more than my 10days in Ibiza has cost me. (flights + hotel)
If you can get a cheaper hol in Ibiza where you can do everything you could in Magaluf with the potential for more, why go anywhere else?

Yea fair enough, just my two bob. With Ibiza, I've never done a week for under a grand with travel and hotel, because of the €40-60 a night club entry and drink price. But I wouldn't pick anywhere else because of the standard of partying, DJs, the whole scene. If I was looking at booking a normal lads holiday and had no real interest in the music scene, I'd pick somewhere much cheaper like Malia, Kavos, Maga.

As I said, just my opinion which is fairly meaningless to anyone else!

take a visa card out with you just in case the money you take out is not enough.and to cover you in case anything happens.you never know.always have a back up card to cover you.

Don't knock it till you've tried it ;) ... you may find rocks a better bet tho' - nothing worse than getting sand everywhere it shouldn't be :p

Nice editing everyone. :D

Would depend which rocks. Have they put a 'no shagging' sign up with the 'no drinking on the rocks/beach' outside Mambo?

In terms of money to take, £300 seems very, very tight indeed to me. I'm assuming the OP is out there for a week so that's only £40 a day. Say he only spends £10 on food each day, having £30 left for everything else just can't be enough. I spent more than that in 3 nights last year, and as above that did not include going to any of the big clubs.

I'm out there from the 4th or possibly 5th till the 10th of August. Leaving on the 4th but flying at night so we will probably get there at 1'ish on the 5th. Then we are leaving midday on the 10th. So 6 days or 5 nights.

I am going to try and up it and bring £500

Rather than making a new thread... i thought i would ask another question here:

Just how chavvy is Ibiza? I know someone who went to Magaluf and got mugged, and also in a separate incident had her passport and money stolen.

My mum seems to think Ibiza is chav heaven.

I know that Ibiza is generally a lot more classy than the other holiday destinations for partying, but i still wanted to know what it was like and how friendly/bad the people are?

I guess the West End is pretty much like a night out on the average UK city centre street. It's just people are on holiday, more chilled, friendly and wearing less clothes. In 16 years of travelling there, I've personally never seen any violence, though of course, it happens. Just be as careful with your possessions as you would walking down any UK street.

Personally I only take cash out, I don't see the point in carrying cards when hitting the clubs/bars, and in those 16 years I've never taken my passport/id out with me. Spread your money through various pockets and it'll be fine.

It's not 'chavvy'. Everyone is there to party and have a good time. Go out there and have fun but be respectful. You won't get trouble unless you're looking for it.

With regards to muggings/thefts etc, it happens everywhere in the world, you've just got to have some sense about you. Don't carry loads of cash, and don't leave cash lying around in you hotel room. Use safety deposit boxes etc, and keep valuables hidden. That's just travel advice in general, it#d be no different in any country

I think the west end can be chavvy ( I met a group of 40 lads from wigan today who fit the description perfectly) but even they were happy enough to have a ten minute conversation before one flashed himself at me! I think on the whole though, Ibiza attracts a good crowd of like minded friendly people who just want to enjoy themselves!

Is there a 'chav element' in San Antonio? Arguably so, yeah. Is it chav heaven? Absolutely not. There are British people and large amounts of drinking going on. Burberry and tracksuits are thin on the ground.

Don't worry - parents always think the worst, particular where youth are involved.;)

At Ibiza Rocks,Hotel, they dont accept cash at the bars, you get a card that you have to top up,drinks are not cheap, on the night of gigs you have to buy tokens, not use the card, and you have to use all the tokens that night, there are NO REFUNDS, and they cant be used another night, each drink is at least 1 token, and each token costs 5 euros,
If youre at the Hostal, used to be called , Las Hurdes, they accept cash, but make sure you take cream for bed bug bites, hubby and I were there last year, and although the staff were lovely, they gave the impression, that they werent happy working there because of the condition of furniture etc, you have to pay for air con at the Hostal, you get given a remote when you pay for it,
a lot of furniture last year had graffitti in drawrs and on the drawers, going back 10 years !!!!! so it shows how old it all was,
they were meant to be changing all the furniture,so hopefully if youre there, they might have done it by now, as they said they had just taken the hostal over last year,so fingers crossed it will have changed,

Ibiza villa to rent. Pool, sleeps 15 8th/9th/10th September. £2800

Hi
It is not my house, I originally rented it but due to an illness I can no longer go but have already paid the deposit. So if anyone is interested in taking it over from me please do be in touch and I can put you in touch with the owner and send photos.

This beautiful finca in Ibiza sleeps 15 people, it has a great sized pool and large kitchen for cooking in. It is located in San Llorenc only 20 minutes from Ibiza town.
It has Aura, a great bar and restaurant just 10 minutes walk down the road. This is a really great price for a villa of this standard!
