Some Ibiza questions

Hey, I am new to this site :)

I am going to Ibiza in 6 days and I have several questions:

What is it like going with just 2 other people? There are just 3 of us in a group (all guys) so is this going to make things better or worse?

We are staying at Ibiza Rocks hotel. I was wondering how this concert works? DO the artists just come out and start playing their music at night, or do they play it throughout the day as well?

I really don't want to be splashing the cash but I still want to have a good time. How much spending money (so not including the hostal costs, flight costs etc) do you recommend I could get away with (the bare minimum but enough to have a good time)?

Do clubs still have dresscodes or is anything allowed (e.g could i wear trainers, shorts etc)?

And do I need to show ID? I don't really want to take my passport out in case I lose it! Same goes for my driving license although my driving license is probably less valuable as I can get a £40 replacement if its lost.

You'll be fine whether with 2 mates, 20 or by yourself! :) Regardless of how many in your group, you will make new friends very quickly, especially staying at Ibiza Rocks.

The gigs start at 7pm and go on until midnight. Resident DJs and support acts start the night. The headliners will start anytime between 9pm and 10pm. There will also often be house DJs spinning tunes poolside throughout the day.

A very subjective question, too many variables to give you an accurate answer. It reality you could probably survive and have a good time on as little as €300. But it all depends on what exactly it is you want to get out of the holiday, especially in terms on which club nights you do and how many. I always aim to take at least a grand for a week. But you can do it on a lot less.

Do clubs still have dresscodes or is anything allowed (e.g could i wear trainers, shorts etc)?

No dress code per se. Apart from maybe Pacha being the exception - and even then you'll have to look like a complete scruff bag! Trainers and shorts are fine. P.S. NO VESTS THOUGH!!!! P.P.S. No, seriously, do not wear a vest. Whatever you do. At any time.

And do I need to show ID?

Officially, you need to be 18 to get into the clubs in Ibiza, same as the UK. Unofficially, in all likelihood, you will be able to get in from 15-16, and probably younger if you're with an adult! So no, you won't need ID unless you are a short, underdeveloped babyface :)

... Unless you have brought any advance tickets... some club nights require you prove you are the named ticket holder. If this is the case, I recommend you take the card your purchased the tickets for. But check on the ticket itself.

By the way, I was joking about the no vest - it's a long running gag on these forums. Wear whatever you feel comfortable with wearing :)

Thanks very much for your amazing help!:D

I am probably going to be taking £300 which is 383 euros.

Oh ok I was thinking of taking a vest because I just cant deal with hot weather very well (i sweat like mad if i wear a t shirt). That's probably going to wind one or two people up on this forum (sorry if it does lol - not the best of starts for a newcomer on here!). I probably woudnt wear a vest to a club though. Thats a little weird for me. Although if I was lounging aroud by the pool or at the beach then maybe.

I haven't bought any advanced tickets.

Ok, well I only just turned 18 however I have stubble and I'm quite tall so I should be ok. Not sure if it is worth taking something just in case though.

Thanks!

Take a lot of what people say on these forums with a pitch of salt. Particularly in reference to vests!!

Sounds like you will be fine without.

383 Euro for 6 dayz? Seems a tight budget not?
I'm also going for the first time this year for 8dayz (7 nights) & I calculate a budget around 1000 euro.
Ok, it depends what you're going to do there, but for me it would be hard looking to turn every penny around.

€1,000 for a week is standard. Certainly enough to do 3-4 big club nights, and eat well throughout the week as well.

White isle calling - you give some great well-thought advice! Love your reference to the vests!

Wrt £....I agree - at least a grand. But if you're just drinking in the west end & not eating much or catching cabs, then maybe £500? Reckon £300 will be tight....

Moneywise, I always have at least 100 euros in my pocket on night out, just about covers the unpredictable nature of an evening in Ibiza. If you stay in the West End, and take into consideration all the offers on drinks, you'll not spend anywhere near that. But then you always meet new people and have new adventures, so it's safer to have some spare change.

£300 which is 383 euros.not enough.40 to 70 euro a good club night ticket is.

Not everyone likes to go to the big clubs.
If you just want to drink & have fun which it sounds like you do it can be done a lot cheaper.

Buy some cheap vodka before you go out and with the offers you can get in many bars you can have a cheap night.
Also Eden & Es Paradis often give out wristbands for discount / Free entry.

I did 10 days on £500 a few years ago and did 3 big club nights plus the water party. We ate out atleast one meal a day just not in posh places!

So yeah I am a girl...but it's still doable if you don't want to just throw money away for the sake of it.

£300 is nowhere near enough. I know people are saying that not everyone wants to hit the clubs, but I can't see the sense in going to Ibiza if you're not going to make the most of the music on offer. You might as well go to Kavos or Magaluf if you're only going to do West End style bars.

First time we went was 2008 and we were on a smallish budget because we drove down and were away from home for 3 weeks. I got by on about £600 for the week we were on the island and we were smashing it every night.

Few tips;

- pre-drink. We usually kept the fridge in our hotel rooms stocked up with spirits and drank there before heading out to the west end at 11ish for more cheap drinks. Then on to the clubs around 1am. That meant we avoided drinking much in the clubs, usually a bottle of water or 2 through the night to stay alive.

- use buses. If you're clever enough about it you can get pretty much anywhere you need to go on the island for just a few euros. Find out about the bars hosting pre-parties and they'll often have free buses going from there if you buy a drink in that bar.

-ice. Sounds stupid, but you might consider it if you're on such a tight budget, as we were when we were 21. Bottled water is ridiculously expensive, we found that some bar staff would give you a nice lump of ice if you ask the right person. Saves you a cool €10 when you're getting dehydrated after dancing all night. It kept us going on one really hot night in Privilege.

- food. You can get a fairly decent meal pretty cheap at la cantina, it's not far from the bottom of the west end. We always found 1 meal a day will keep you going for the week. You probably won't feel well enough to eat untill the evening after a big night and in that heat anyway.

In regards to ice....

everytime one of my friends or I buy a bottle of water (or even a beer) in a club we ask for a glass with ice, then we dont open the water, ask a friend to hold the ice and go to another bar person and ask for a glass with ice...we do this about 4 times...this means 2 1/2 glasses of water and a full bottle for 10euros :)

Makes us sound like cheapskates I know but it's how most workers survive!

At least if you're in Ibiza then you always have the option of the big club nights even if you don't plan to.

We've met people there before who haven't planned to do club nights, we've got them to tag along with us after some persuasion and they've loved it.

All about educating the newbies, fair play.

I just think some people completely miss the point of Ibiza. One of the girls who's coming with us in September was in Ibiza for a few days last week for a hen do, and hated it because of the crowd she was with. None of the girls she went with had the slightest bit of interest in music, and all they wanted to do was go to the West End for a couple of nights out. Waste of time and money IMO, they might as well have gone to Benidorm.

But that's just my take on it

Eden & Es Paradis often give out wristbands for discount / Free entry.like said are fine if your in san an.most clubs do but watch the times you have to be in club for.very early doors some are,
back in early 80;s it was free all the time.just needed a ticket from a bar.only koo (privilege) you had to pay for.

Try and take some extra cash, Ibiza is not cheap even for breakfast, lunch, evening meal you're looking at a fair whack.

Hopefully you have a fridge go to Lidl and stock up on food for breakfast and lunch then look out for special offers for your evening meal.

you could probably do it on your budget but money goes really easy in ibiza

I'm unsure, but I reckon the average meal cost from memory, at the various West End restaurants is between 10-20 euros. That'll be enough for food and a drink. Two of those meals a day, which I usually have, and I'm already around 40 euros down.

So that'll be 280 euros just for food in the daytime for the week, though you might as well call it 300 euros cause I'll probably have more than one drink.

Cheapest food option, go to the supermarket, buy a bag of salad leaves, tin of fish and a packet of ham (sin gluten).

Have to disagree with you on that. I have no interest whatsoever in the music on offer in Ibiza's big clubs, but having been to Ibiza last year I loved it. I'm more of an Indie man and Ibiza's nightlife actually caters for that a lot better than your typical holiday destination. Heading back out in 11 days and can't wait. I'm actually going to be going to Es Paradis one night...for their new Indie night!

In terms of money to take, £300 seems very, very tight indeed to me. I'm assuming the OP is out there for a week so that's only £40 a day. Say he only spends £10 on food each day, having £30 left for everything else just can't be enough. I spent more than that in 3 nights last year, and as above that did not include going to any of the big clubs.

Why go to Benidorm if you can do it in Ibiza?
Some of my friends have just gone to Magaluf for a week, that cost more than my 10days in Ibiza has cost me. (flights + hotel)
If you can get a cheaper hol in Ibiza where you can do everything you could in Magaluf with the potential for more, why go anywhere else?
