Solomun and DIYnamic 2013 - the sound.

I'm a huge fan of the colourful melodic European sound from last summer that Solomun made so famous at Sankeys with his DIYnamic neon parties - it was easily the best night for me that season.

I went to Solomun+1 (HOSH) at Pacha a few weeks back...it wasn't the typical DIYnamic sound, but was still great music and I thought, as many others do, that his Pacha nights will be him trying different things out.

Was planning on doing DIYnamic at Sankeys again in September to relive that special sound and all I've heard from my mates that have been this year so far is that he's just gone really hard (relatively speaking here)...gone are the trancy melodies, the bright synths, the slow sexeh vocals and in it's place are DC-10-like pounding one tone driving beats and bass heavy generic tracks.

It's all still good music, I reiterate..but it's too much of a dramatic change in my opinion. I expect and welcome evolution of a sound, but c'mon! Any reason for this I wonder?

Additionally, I'm not a fan of Void and it's ruined how Sankeys sounds in my opinion...it's all just bass now, no clarity.

/rant over :)

Actually Solomun used to play much "harder". But you are right: this year he turned his sound into more underground! At least thats what I heard of him so far here in his hometown Hamburg. Last time I saw him was at his Open-Air here and it was absolutely boring! But I have never been a fan of him...
