So what was DC10 actually like?

It's such a shame - was really looking forward to going to DC10 whilst I was out here filming for LIVING TV, but obviously it's shut down for the time being... what was it really like? Are any clubs here, or nights comparable to went on? Seems that everyone I speak to see it as being really hedonistic and carefree (excatly my kind of club), what was it really like thouigh and what were the good nights that went on there?

Cheers,
Andrew

DC10 started off as an afterparty for those who wanted to continue partying after Space and quickly became as big as We Love Space, hitting it's peak in 2005. They played the freshest underground/minimal music on the Island. Then the music changed and the bigger DJs that were playing there moved on to other clubs like Monza and Cocoon. It was an amazing place in it's day but now with the new opening times- I'm not sure if it can get back there.

The main event is Circo Loco on Mondays. But they also run Wednesday and Friday parties too.

It reopens in mid August.

Ah sounds really good - love my minimal... never went to DC10 last time I was in Ibiza and regretted it then. Circo Loco is legendary too isn't it... are the stories true that it shut down due to some sort of drug tolerance or slackness of tolerance towards drug taking?

Only comparable places in London would be Public Life on saturday / sunday afternoons really but thats really pushing it.

Well, that and Secret Sundaze.

But in all honesty, in 16 years of clubbing and 9 going to Ibiza, there's nowhere else like it in the world. I can't wait to go back in September.

Based on the events of August 7th, 2006.

There's no REAL way to describe Circoloco @ DC10, it's a different experience for every one, whether you choose to kick it inside, with the dark sounds and more of a rough feeling, or, (And this is a BIG "or") if you choose to be on the terrace.

Notice that you never see pictures from inside of DC10, all you see is pictures from the terrace, and there's a good reason for it...

The terrace, is one of the craziest places on the face of earth, I can honestly say that the only place that comes close to it is Panorama Bar in Berlin.

It's the most respected and sought after party in the island, simply because no one can match it, hell, even Space closed it's Monday After Parties becuase no one showed up, everyone goes to DC10 on a Monday morning/afternoon.

It's a mixture of some extreme gay crowd on the right side, what we like to call "The Skin Zone", but on the other hand you'll also meet cheeky elegant Spanish and Italian ladies dancing their thongs off.

A lot of the people are in masks/disguises, wearing surreal hats and clothing, doing some crazy things, a woman in a Bride's dress with a dildo on her head, 2 guys in a donkey suit, an Indian Pizza delivery boy (Actually holding a Pizza!), I can go on and on...

Last time I was there was August 2006, nothing beats the feeling of entering the terrace, seeing the Red (now Yellow) walls, the industrial fans shooting a blend of Cold/Hot air on you, the afternoon light of the sunset is cought between the fans and your eyes, the Bass is pumping so hard from the speakers, that's all this place really needs to keep going for hours and hours, a solid bassline, leave the rest to the crowd.

The DJ Booth is a fiesta, at times there are 10-15 people except for the DJ in the booth, skinny girls dancing, taking their tops off and throwing them to the crowd, it's very common to see other DJs just pop up in the DJ Booth, we saw Danny Tenaglia for example, dressed up like a bumble bee in the booth, dancing and shouting to the crowd, Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin stops by for a visit before their Cocoon night to taste the vibe, one of the most rememorable moments was at 2003, Steve Lawler was spotted in the DJ Booth, the crowd went crazy, Lawler took off his shirt, jumped into the crowd and was carried all around the terrace, with his hands in the air.

Then comes the big attraction, the "Sit Down", Loco Dice, plays one of his monster tunes "Seeing Through Shadows", the break arrives, everyone and I do mean everyone sits their ass down, clapping, whistling, shouting, you hear Spanish, Italian, German from all over, there is excitement in the air.

Then the beat comes in and with it, the club lifts off, hundreds of clubbers jump up with their hands up in the air, it's something you just have to experience yourself, this was truely one of the greatest moments in my whole clubbing career and I'll remember it to the day I die.

It's when moments like this seem to bind together in DC10 that I feel so happy to be a part of this thing called the electronic music and clubbing scene.

I think, these pictures, say it all:

And the rest my friend, you just have to see for yourself.

NO.

It's because they had a license for a 'cafe' or something similar
