So...1st Birthday?????NYE?????

Here's the dilemma - Rhythm Factory can only give me Saturday 22 January, which I fear would suffer poor attendance because people are skint after Christmas and haven't had January's pay yet.

The alternative is take a room on at a major London club on NYE!! This would mean a full So... line up in a great venue and big names in the other rooms. The catch is that they would expect me to sell loads of tickets @ £30-40 a pop.

Your comments please........

What else they got on then?

I hardly ever go to clubs on NYE to be fair,£30-40 IS too much to spend on just a ticket to a club in London imo. i think a lot of people are much more likely to go to house parties or even abroad for NYE these days as after extortionate club/taxi/hotel prices it would prob not cost much more than going to a club in london...

I don't know anyone who's going clubbing on NYE in the UK. It's too expensive, too packed, and at the end of the day not half as good as a normal clubbing night out.

The Cross was great last year, wasn't as overcrowded as I expected either, but I agree that the ticket prices are exhorbitant.

One of the things that our mates learnt last year is to get in bloody early - buying an extra drink at club prices is worth not being stuck outside at midnight

I think most peaople are willing to pay a little bit extra on NYE. Especially if they can spend it with A LOT of the there mates.

I think its a great idea altho Buckley thinking about it the first So . . . was 31st January, whats another week ay?

By the way just so you know if your ever wishing to book Joey all bookings come through me now ok ;) :P

The extra week make the difference because it allows people to get a payday in after Christmas. Lots of folk can't afford to go out until they get paid again. Our door charge is fairly minimal (I like to think) but the cost of a big night out isn't - drinks, cabs, other supplies ;)

Everyone's gotta go through you, Kerry? I think that should be on the other thread - I can't see Joey being too happy about it.

Buckley, can't you do it on a boat :?:

Got offered something like that but they wanted me to confirm on fairly sketchy details So... we turned it down.

To be honest, last year at The Cross was one of the best nights I've had in a club on NYE and I'd be more than happy to do it again.

never had a great NYE in my experience, too expensive IMO.

Still, maybe i aint been lucky in selecting where i go!

I think its a great idea tho.

Me and Jon are probably staying in on NYE (or going down the pub for a good ol' drinking sesh  !). From previous years we've spent an absolute fortune on entrance to a club, drinks, cabs etc, and to be brutally honest, none of the night's we've been have even come close to some of the normal non-NYE club night's we've been to. IMO you build your expectations up but then it never quite delivers if you know what I mean?
Anyhow, we're probably going to see Mr Morillo on NYday instead :D

Can definitely see your point. You pay all that money but instead of at least some of it being spent on better production and little touches to make NYE something special, it all goes into increased venue hire and wages costs. One of the things people forget to consider is how much they'd want to work that night, although I'd expect the real increase is the expected profits at the top of the food chain.

I know lots of people who stayed in on NYE and went clubbing on Jan 1 daytime last year.

Still I'll see what answers, our mailing list comes back with and then make a decision. If enough people want it we might still do it.

Cheers for your input, one and all. 8)

Buckley - I think the trick is to offer something different on NYE. Can you get a special licence from 6pm on NYE to 6pm on New Year's Day all for the £30-40 mark ?

I agree with you on this one. Whilst many of my mates say its not worth the extra money, I think it is.

I'm certainly looking for a big club to go to on NYE.. Turnmills have the Chemicals again, I guess Fabric will have the residents.. theres the Gallery/ Heat at Brixton... not sure what else is happening.

If So.. was at The Cross i'd be more tha happy to fork out 30-40 pounds.
