Sinusitus

anyone had this before ?
Its driving me completely mad, my head feels like its about to explode.
Im praying for the moment the antibiotics kick in.
I need to be in tip top condition for my September jaunt to the island.
Tips anyone ? :(

Tavist is the best medicine I have taken for sinus probs. It used to be called Tavist D, now I think it is just Tavist 12 Hour. It works way better than Sudafed and doesn't have an overly looped out feeling like a lot of cold meds do. I swear that within minutes of swallowing Tavist, you feel the pressure lifting from your sinuses and your passages starting to open up. If you are going out, make sure you get the non-drowsy kind.

Dayquil is good too, seems to take care of everything all in one shot (headache, throat soreness from post-nasal drip, sinus blockage) but it makes me way loopy. Drink tons of orange juice and stay away from anything in the dairy group... milk and cheese etc. promote mucus development (I know, lovely LOL)

Mama PG hopes you feel bettah :D xoxo

One of my close friends has this and its quite severe. She has astma too and i think its somehow connected.

Its not got to the point that she cant go out anymore to smoky clubs or bars because it makes it really bad, she's only 32.

Yeah went yesterday and he put me on antibiotics, but said get some Sudafed aswell.
he mentioned Steriods if the antibiotics didnt work. trouble is im back on the island three weeks.
Ill look cool as f#ck chilling at Del Mar with a glass of water and a tissue hangin out my nose 8O

I've had a surgery last year to get rid of it. Works perfectly!

If you don't want to have a surgery, you should try using some nose product like Nasacort (triamcinolone acetonide) Nasal Spray. It's the best to relieve the pain caused by sinusitis.

I get this every time I have a cold, its really horrible isnt it  Sudafed Max Strength are good, but only take them in the morning as they leave you unable to get off to sleep, dont know if they have some kind of stimulant in them or something :?
If mine is really bad I normally get antibiotics from the doctor and that usual works

I suffer from sinusitis too and find that steaming your head over a bowl of boiled water helps (fill a bowl with boiled water, add an optional drop of olbas oil or menthol crystals, lean over the bowl with a towl covering your head and inhale the steam). If your nose is blocked the sudafed nasal spray helps. I've also heard that garlic capsules might help, and if possible avoid smokey places.

This works amazingly well. I also like to run a hot shower, shut the bathroom door and deeply inhale the steam with a Halls coughdrop in my mouth... breaks down the pressure nicely

This thread just made me fear getting sick days before I depart for Ibiza. That would seriously suck but I would go either way. Too much invested now... ;)

Exactly. That is why I ALWAYS suggest bringing antibiotics, vitamins and herbal remedies along. Stay well hydrated, and though it sounds motherish, AVOID TOUCHING your eyes, mouth, nose etc.... any open orfices where heebie jeebies could enter your body (LOL) through your hands. WASH HANDS. :P

Last time I was on the White Isle I was bedded by some sort of nasty throat infection that made my tonsils swell like golf balls and I was so exhausted I could barely blink. The only thing that saved me was these amazing French dudes that gave me their antibiotics, drinking jugs of orange juice and water, and sitting it out for a full day and night. Nothing at the drug stores had anything that made me feel any better. Truthfully I would have caught anything though after getting no sleep, smoking a million cigs and being 8O for days.. wasn't smart LOL.

Never take antibiotics unless you are seriously sick with something, or it could bring you more harm than good (so my doc roommate says :P ) It is best to be preventative. :P PS Taking Airborne is a great way to protect yourself from catching bugs in the recycled winds of airplanes... it usually comes in a nasal spray. I swear by it. Yes, I am making myself sound totally OCD but I HATE getting sick and my immune system ain't the best, so I HAVE to be prepared!!!
