SIGMA

as ever, the challenge for the small venues is whether they can risk offering something fresh and different or feel they still need to fish in the same waters as the big brand mafia. Sigma had Bekka play for them a while back and she plays across the board from soul and disco to banging house, so that suggests they are open to different types of nights... I guess it also largely depends on time of year too?

Time will tell which way they go. It also makes sense to have different evenings, as long as the quality remains at least the same.

actually wish there was somewhere like this on mainland too.. small dark space 150 capacity - deep house, electro etc

They totally have the right philosophy:

At the heart of Ibiza’s underground scene is a commitment to music over spectacle. Unlike larger commercial clubs, underground venues focus on creating intimate, immersive experiences for true music lovers....The crowd comes for the music, not for bottle service or elaborate stage productions.

Cristian Varela playing when I’m on island, September 9th, €7 early bird! Dunno if il find it too heavy, although if he’s all night long he’ll build up…. Very tempted

I'll give you that Varela might not be as popular in Ibiza as he was in the past but I'm surprised to see him playing at Sigma, the place is very small.

I think what Sigma are doing is tremendous. For any tiny club to survive anywhere in Europe (let alone in Ibiza) now is a major achievement. And to do it with an indie ethos is all the more admirable. All the best DJs prefer small venues because there is less pressure to bang the hits and you can really delve deep into your crate.

I’ve bought a ticket 😁. I love small clubs, always preferred a smaller space, there’s just something about it. Also when there’s no glitz it encourages the music people only, looking forward to a dance 🕺

I wasn't critising the fact that Sigma is a small venue, it's a nice little place with s cracking sound system and the atmosphere there is very good and relaxed.
I only thought that Varela will fill the place easily and some might not be able to get a ticket but I maybe be wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️
I loved the time I've been to Sigma the only downside is, depending on the night, the attendance might be a bit low.
Once I was there and throughout the night it was probably about 20 people there and that sometimes can be a bit daunting especially since a good 15 seemed to all know each other so you almost felt like you gatecrashed a house party or something 😂 but as long and the people are there to have a good time to enjoy a more underground vibe it doesn't really matter.
Great place to discover new DJs that won't get the exposure they deserve especially local ones.

What is the capacity out of interest?
Going by their website it's about 120 people which I would say it's pretty much right.
It's like a quite narrow corridor with a bar on your right and the DJ booth at the end on floor level.
There's also a small chill out area upstairs where the toilets are.
Like I said in my previous post the sound system is pretty good especially considering the size of the club.
