Should 1st-timer bother with Manumission?

I really need your help here guys! I am visiting Ibiza for the first time this summer and have heard a lot of crazy things about Manumission at Privelege on Monday nights! I am also the member of another Ibiza forum, and haven't gotten a single response on my thread which was posted over a month ago! The people on Ibiza Spotlight Forums are MUCH MUCH more helpful and polite! For someone visiting Ibiza for the first time, would anyone recommend Manumission as something to check out? I really really want to go there, but have heard some not so good things about it! What do you all think? Thanks for your time!

I go every year and Manumission still is something a bit different/special from everything else available imo.

Recent years have seen the crowd become more British and less extravagant but it's still a very enjoyable night.

Also be sure to check out the Manumission Carry on party at Space on Tuesday mornings - a lot more debauched and fun than the actual night nowadays.

I thought it was rubbish and even a first-timer shouldn't waste one night on it if you are really into clubbing. Especially since it's on Monday, same night as Cocoon @ Amnesia.

But then again, if you're a guy you'll probably enjoy Manumission. For me it was just a lot of sweaty geezers standing around with beer in hand checking out the strippers on the stage

I'm not going again.

DO bother! My first Manumission was a serious eye-opener, the show was like nothing I have seen. When you go back you realise it doesn't change much, but if you haven't been before I would definitely recommend it. Also make sure you check out the smaller rooms where the real music gets played and the terrace, which is the best chill-out area I've ever been in.

I'd never bothered with it, especially as it's the same night as Cocoon and I love my techno.

However, after three years of dismissing it without actually going, I gave it a go last year as Optimo were on in the Music Box (one of the side rooms) and I'm big a fan of theirs.

Needless to say, I had one of the best nights ever. The main room, the whole 'show' is a bit of an experience. After I'd seen the first instalment, I must say I quickly grew tired of all the tits and ass but it's worth catching as it's just so darn large - they certainly know how to put on a show!

The side rooms made it for me. They're trying other types of music here, such as Optimo, and also getting loads of bands in this year which has attracted a new audience to Manumission, other than the beer boys who were actually all very well behaved and as they were there for the show and the venue is so large, I hardly encountered any.

The real must-do however, is the Manumission Carry On at Space that starts from 8am (as soon as Manumission finishes) until about 4pm. It's fantastic and attracts the real hardcore lot. I don't think I've laughed to much in my life - the atmosphere was just brilliant. Mike and Claire handing out toys for everyone to play with, girls handing out fruit, beds and just all round debauchery.

I can't recommend it enough!

ull find that most people in there only go just to say to there mates thats they have been there. if ur really into the club scene i wudnt bother. but its a good experience :)

What utter guff! Read my above response.

its never appealed to me. I am big into dj's and like to know who i am going to see, the fact they dont publish line ups puts me off big time, I'd be gutted paying 50e to see john kelly or someone.

the show doesnt appeal to me either, as freinds have told me it is just a case of oggling lads waiting to see some tits. the fact its big with british people puts me off as well. had i gone to ibiza 6/7 years ago i wouldnt have misseed this but now it doesnt appeal in the slightest.

I am keen to experience priviledge though, so will wait for reports on "ibiza rocks" and maybe give that a go.

why do people say that? you aren't ever in ibiza for just one day so you can do different things on different nights. i consider me and my friends very into the clubbing scene and manumission still has a pull for us because it's so very different to anything else on ibiza or in the UK.

they constantly change things, operate many different styles in different areas of the club, have more entertainment/employ more performers and put on an incredible amount of new/unsigned acts/artists etc.

the whole thing with manumission is the sheer scale of it and i think thats why the "uber cool" people disregard it! it's the biggest weekly party in the world, now in it's 11th year. you can't really argue with that!

I always recommend beginners to check out Manumission because the whole Privilege open it's an eye-opener, really impressive. But once checked out I'd rather go to Cocoon on Mondays. This party rules!

I will definitely check it out then.....coming from the U.S. I absolutely feel it necessary to give it a go! What kind of music do they play at Cocoon though? Just curious?

Cocoon kicks the f.ucking shit out of manumission music wise.

if you havent been manumission go though

i am pissed now but mark my words amigo
