Stab-proof vests worn to classes

Pupils who fear being violently attacked at school have started wearing stab-proof vests, it emerged yesterday.
An increase in knife and gang crime in East London has led to children as young as ten spending more than £100 on protective clothing.

You wouldn't spend that much unless it was more than just paranoia would you? 8O
These people aren't loaded and would rather have a pair of Nike Airs and a few sovereign rings for sure. :? :? :? Scary.

I don't get it.
Are students scared to be attacked at metro or is it about bulling?

It's in Leyton, where Jon lives. It doesnt suprise me that kids are wearing bullet/stab proof vests around there! I certainly wouldnt feel safe walking around at night on my own. In fact just the other day me and Jon were walking back from the tube and almost walked into a gang of about 10 hooded youths rowing on the street. It looked like it might kick off any minute so we jumped on a bus the rest of the way home.
I'm considering buying one of those vests myself! 8O

lol* its hard to know when youre not from london sil:lol: i wouldnt have known unless i lived here. anyway Leyton doesnt seem that bad, have a friend who lives near the station. sure eastern parts of london can be dodgy, just didnt think leyton was that bad?
