Is there anyone who is familiar with Club Shelter in NY. I am coming to Ibiza in July 19-27. I am from US east coast and looking for some of my peeps in Ibiza. I have a schedule of who I want to check out during my stay according to the Party Calendar, but would love to chat it up with someone who might be able to offer advice for a first timmer............. ;)

NYC - Barbara Tucker hosts them and they've been going since the early 90s.

Last one I went to was on a random Sunday at Crobar. Lovely crowd and loads of old school Chicago styleey music. 8)

You won't find much soulful stuff in the main Ibiza clubs this summer...Ibiza town bars, the funky room at Pacha and occasional main room warm up set may cater for your tastes. Release yourself @ Pacha on Mondays will be a safe bet for example.

This year, music seems to have gone really deep and dirrrrrrty. 8)

I have also been loving Louie Vega at Cielo on Wed. in NY.
So your suggestion would be Release yourself at Pacha?
I am also excited about the defected records night at Pacha _ my week has Kings of Tomorrow and Om at El divino. I am going to miss Marques Wyatt....he comes the next week at Om night. I was totally surprised that both places say they have dress codes and no trainers are allowed but replies I got from a posting here said that it is not really enforced so I am relieved. What smaller venues should I check out?

Unfortunately I never made it there despite the best intentions (huge MAW fan here :D 8) )

Pacha is always lovely (except Friday cos Pete Tong ain't much cop and it gets rammed)...trainers are always fine too. Just make sure you check out the funky room.

Other than that, my reccomendations have to be Space on a Sunday, Balearic People or Scandal at Penelope, obviously DC-10 and a NDSM beach party if you're lucky enough to catch one.

I am also a big Maw fan.
DC-10 anytime? What is NDSM?
You are from London? Do you call soulful house Garage?

Hey! Wish I was headed back this year, but it's a savings year, allegedly, :D . You wont get a Shelter vibe at many of the events, the smaller parties should be good though.
 
In Brooklyn do you know a guy Abdul Abdala or something like that?
I have some of his CD's ..............he sells them outside the shelter sometimes......he is good!
