Sex Y Lucia where in formentera?

I saw it all, It is one of my favourite movies. It moved me. It touched me. I really can't see how anyone who watches it cannot be moved by it! My friend who made the silly comment (and he hasn't even seen it!!!!) would probably like it too if he watched it as he is quite into the Arthouse type films rather than Hollywood blockbusters

nearly every spanish (or french for that matter) film i have seen touches me in a way that only a fraction of english language films do.

basically i just feel like spanish films mean more to me and i can associate more with them in a way that very few hollywood or british films come close.

It probably helps that you can understand the language too! subtitles are good, but I fear I lose a lot because I can't understand them as well.. subtitles are never exactly word for word.

i'd say i get about 50%........the slang, colloquiallisms, accents, etc mean i don't understand much of it and i'm like you, i dream of the day i can take away the memorable quotes and sayings, rather than an english best shot translation.

the one obvious to take from the film is the lyric from the song.

"un rayo de sol ol ol ol, a mi corazon on on on", which i'm sure you can work out and is beautiful and perfect for the film and for personal reasons touches me deeply.:):cry::D:D

Hola :D

I saw los Amantes many years ago and I like it, I'm sure you'll like it. The photgraphy is stunning and the main actors are Fele Martínez and Najwa Nimri who are great.

He also has a really interesting film-documetnary called La Pelota Basca which gives a quite good perspective about the basc conflict. It's mainly a collection of interviews with people involved in the conflict in a way or other, from victims to terrorists' relatives. Really really worth seeing it

Hi silvia, I'll have to check out that film... and try and find that documentary in an independent film place somewhere!

Isn't Najwa Nimri the one who plays Elena ( sp?) in Lucia?

she is a great actor.

nimri also plays, excellently, the character of nuria in Abre los Ojos, the original of Vanilla Sky. this character was julie gianni played by cameron diaz in VS.

(She is a great actor ??? wouldn't be actress?)

Vanilla Sky is such a crap film compared to the original one
Nawja also sings, she is not best vocalist in the world but it's not bad, their group is called Nawjajean
She is a bit of an underground icon, altho she is not very popular and she has a bit of a stupid cow fame. I like her tho, she is very coherent with everything she does

you can say actor for a woman too.

i love VS!:D :D but i saw it first and it is in my native tongue. i love abre los ojos too but almost as a different film entirely rather than the same story. also until i can understand every single word of it without subtitles i'll find it difficult to truly compare.

But if you compare Najwa vs Cameron - Eduardo vs Tom and Alejandro Amenabar vs Cameron Crow it's quite clear the winner.

on those 3 i agree although Jason Lee in VS is outstanding. cruz is much better in abre los ojos too.

the problem i have with comparison is in the translation. abre los ojos for me lacks the lingustic, semantic, literary, etc, etc impact that VS had on me purely becuase i couldn't understand it all in the intended language. to appreciate it properly a subtitled translation is no good for me, i'm a perfectionist in that way. i don't want to just know the translation, i want to hear the words spoken naturally and interpret them myself not through the subtitles. sadly, my spanish is not that good. the same for english films, quotes and words are open to interpretation as to the meaning.:)

but like i say, i love both and both are amongst my favourite films ever.:D 8)
