So I love this film

It was filmed in Formentera right? Having only been to Formentera once, I was trying to figure out where on the island it was filmed? Anyone know which beach its at?

Thanks grego :)

I was having a look at my old formentera map I picked up last time I was there... but I didn't take photos of that part though, so I wasn't sure!

so what is your take on the film?? i fcukin love it. i love films where the meaning is open to interpretation and there is a blur between what is real, what is dream, what is imagined. etc

same here.. At the end I'm not quite sure what is fantasy or what was from his book.. or if she was just imagining it.. or if it was all fantasy from her perspective or they are all just actors being actors playing out the parts of the film.

I love how every part of the film has meaning about it, and I don't realise it at the time..but you don't realise it until later like when the girl who's mum is a porn star .. don't know if its fantasy or not ...about her hooking up with Carlos/antonio.. or whoever he is. We see him on the island, and then with the the daughter of the porn mum( i forget all their names) but i didn't relate it until later that he had already been shown in the film

I could try and interpret it for hours.... but yeah its just all in all a great film. There was another film by the same director "Lovers of the Arctic Circle' which is mean to be quite good but i haven't seen that one yet....

I love Lucía y el Sexo, I love Paz Vega and I love Julio Medem :D :D

I haven't seen it for years but the mud scene is in Es Palma d'Or and the beach is Illetes

what??!!8O8O:?:?:lol::lol:

i think that the only real bit is the first part and then every thing else is in the book, but to further confuse things, some parts of the book are dreams/flashbacks/fantasies,etc. so basically, you can take any piece of them and make them the reality.

the first time i watched it, i was just absorbed with the scenery and the story of love and loss and tragedy and happiness and sex. i just couldn't stop thinking about ibiza. the island scenes just touched me. so it all made sense when i realised it was formentera.

great film, although the translation of "lucia y el sexo" into "sex and lucia" conveys the wrong message about what the film is about.

silvia , have you seen Lovers of the Arctic circle or Amantes de Circulo Polar , Los ( just googled that.. is it right? :oops:)

Julio Medem directed that too.. so i was interested in seeing this one!

I love Paz Vega.. she is just stunning!

I agree with you.. I told a friend of mine about it and he just heard that title and thought 'cool.. nearly like porn!" :roll: :roll:

did you see the director's cut?? there are some very graphic scenes in the film but IMO if you can't see past them in the wider context of what a beautiful and emotional film it is, then the film is wasted on you.

I saw it all, It is one of my favourite movies. It moved me. It touched me. I really can't see how anyone who watches it cannot be moved by it! My friend who made the silly comment (and he hasn't even seen it!!!!) would probably like it too if he watched it as he is quite into the Arthouse type films rather than Hollywood blockbusters
