SKYLARK presents Buick project
“Chancer/Drop The Beat”
Saved Records
Released: December 13th
Skylark AKA Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterly are back with their second single release (their first being “That’s More Like It” on Credence, released March this year)… The single also marks the launch of their new label ‘Saved Records’.
Since Nic and Andy’s first remix release in 2003 - for Jo Mill’s 4Tune500 “Dancing in the Dark” on Black Gold – the duo have become a big name on the remix and production tip… 2004 has been the biggest year yet for Skylark with every DJ from Layo and Bushwacka to Steve Lawler to Pete Tong, Erick Morillo, Lee Burridge, Sasha, Deep Dish to Digweed playing their music. In the past year alone, remixes from the duo have included Praise Cats “Shined On Me”, AStudio “SOS”, Deep Dish “Flashdance”, Micheal Gray “The Weekend”, Chiapet “West World”, Tears for Fears “Shout”, Akabu “Don’t Hold Back” and forthcoming this year have remixed Kylie Minogue’s “I Believe In You”… In 2004 you haven’t been able to go to a club or turn on the radio without hearing at least one thing they have been involved in.
Nic Fanciulli in the past year has risen through the DJ ranks and now joins the big-boy DJ elite. He has been extensively touring since March – in places including Singapore, Taiwan, Miami, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Costa Rica, Poland, Slovenia, Lithuania, Dominican Republic, Oslo, Paris Amsterdam, Italy, Greece and many more (roughly 50 countries this year alone). In June Nic was announced as a Radio 1 resident and in September this year he released his first compilation release on DMC.
Andy Chatterly has, until now, been the quiet one behind Skylark, now is the time to bring him to the forefront… Andy began producing in 1993, releasing tracks on his own label Sperm Records under various monikers including Yum Yum and Boomerang. Sperm achieved cult label status notching up 50 releases in the mid 90s, with Yum Yum later signing to Bedrock releasing “Heavy Fluid”. His other current projects include 'The Droyds' (recently signed to New Religion) who released “Girls on Pills / Take me I'm yours” on his and partner Richard Norris (The Grid) label ‘God Made Me Hardcore in’ 2002. Now, as well as working heavily on Skylark and The Buick Project and setting up the duos own label Saved, Andy is also part of electro-Indie-rock band Demeter (www.demeter.tv) who's first single 'Hellfire' is due out early 2005
The thinking behind Saved Records is for the label to be a vehicle to release both Skylark’s own productions (under the name Skylark for the bigger releases and Buick Project for the more underground cuts) and to also release quality music from the more underground producers that both Nic and Andy want to push… Forthcoming from the label expect releases from James Talk with “Love That Acid!” (including a Paul Woolford remix), Shafunkers “Electric Acid”, Anil Chawla and Dale Anderson “Disco Stew” (including a Buick project mix) as well as more releases from Skylark and Buick Project.
