Sankeys Open New Club in Ibiza

if you are flying to ibiza with Monarch read the articles/adverts in the Explorer magazine for details/savings!

and we are in it too!

disclaimer...please note other airlines are also available and other nightclubs in Ibiza are also available

Anyone been yet who can give some 1st hand feedback ? Seems everyone was waiting for this to fall flat on its face at the beginning and it would be good to see how things are panning out.

Best night @ Spankeys is .... ?

Went to Monza on Thurs, got free in before 1am on their Facebook gueslist. Musically was very good, the sound system is pretty awesome and the club looks great. If you have ever been to Sankeys Manchester, it is really similar look and feel.

Crowd was mostly Spanish, good vibes, no hastle whatsoever. Drinks prices were reasonable, 8 euro for beer and 6 for water I think. It was by no means packed, the 2nd room was empty which was a shame as it is a nice venue. Forms what I hear, their big nights, Carnival and Thank F**k it's Fridays are busy and seem to be doing well. All of the workers are raving about then place, seems to be a favourite with them alL.

Def worth a visit, I hope it does well and returns next season.

Kinky Mlinky @ Sankeys

Has anyone else been. Must admit tbeing pretty disappointed with the music. I have never been to Kiky Malinky before, but I was under the impression it was going to be big vocal party house, but found it to be pretty mundane.

Also, Sankeys could really do with a smoke machine. Covers a multitude of sins, especially when th are only 20 people in.

Went last night, got in there about 2.30 to find they halved the size of the main room as there was all but 40 people in. The sound system clearly wasn't balanced correctly or for that size (smaller then usual) room and the base was vibrating so hard it was far too intense.

Musically I wasn't into it, Tom Novy was absolutely slamming it with what I can only describe as hard proggy beats, a lot of battered people in the club so those dancing seemed into it to be fair. However when he dropped Cassanovy - Need your loving, then kings of tomorrow accapela I decided it was time got go sit down........ Ten years ago maybe!

As there was no seats at all downstairs I went up to the terrace to chill for a bit. Get upstairs on the terrace and they had closed all but about 4 square metres of space and had everyone huddled around a few chairs. Unfortunately, there were no chairs available so stood in the doorway for a couple of minutes and then went back down, really not what I needed at the time!

Called it a night about 20 minutes later and went home. Really frustrating as I had a great night at Monza earlier in the week. It also wasn't too busy but they had the full main room, a second room and the full terrace open, so plenty of space to take a break and chill out when needed.

So yep, all in all I wasn't very impressed at all.........

...that sounds horrible...
I can remember 8 years ago, I was on a party at privelege where only 40 other people showed up... what a waste of time...

Can't see Sankeys lasting long.

You can get into all the nights for free with wristbands at certain times and everyone iv'e spoken to has said it's been dead most nights.

40 people, that sounds really dire. I'd have thought Kinky Malinki would have had more pull crowd wise, but obviously not.

They seem to be doing free entry wristbands before 1am on most nights.. We were planning to go there on the 8th July for Thank F***, so getting in for free before 1am saved a bit of money. When we got in we found out Dave Spoon was ill so staying there all night didn't seem so appealing. We had other friends in space so we left very quickly. Had we not had the free wristbands it may have been different.

We also got offered free entry wristbands before 1am for Ferry Corsten opening which was pretty suprising. Would have loved to have gone but Prydz @ Amnesia was a must!

I would defo recommend trying a night there as it was a nice little venue with a good sound system and they are pulling some big names in. Word on the PDB street was that they are struggling to get the numbers :(. I really hope they don't fail as it is an asset for PDB.

A real shame that, one of the best nights I went to music and venue wise. I hoped that it was just because it was the start of the season that numbers were poor. It would be a real shame to fail, they offer something really different and at a reasonable price.

Think it would have worked a lot better if it was in San An. Too much happening in pdb these days to compete with.

There must be a huge market of people who just can't or won't pay big club prices night after night in both PDB and San An. Should be no problem filling this place but it's sitting in a difficult 'space' in many ways. The marketing hasn't been great from what I've seen so far - never seen any attempts to rally demand from San An. Are they doing any preparties to build the name and profile in Ibiza ? How many Germans or Italians know the Sankeys brand ?

Crazy schedule on their Disco Bus : http://www.sankeysibiza.info/info/disco-bus/

Why run a last bus back to San Antoni at 4.15am ffs ? Surely prime time for picking up punters with a free bus service is approaching 2am out of the bars .. I don't usually even think about clubbing in Ibiza before 2 which means no way I'm ready to go home by 4.15 .. do people go to bed earlier these days ?

Was actually half way to PDB last Thursday from San An about 3.15am, intending to check this place out but I don't know PDB as well as San An. Had done a drive-by the day before looking for it and after a big sign off the main road in, pointing the way, there are no more signs and as I didn't have the address to hand I couldn't find the place. There's no link to a map on their website showing the location so immediately
it's a hasstle to find.

At the thought of having to start scouring the town for a club at 3.30 in the morning and also having to pay £25 for a couple of hours without a wristband, I turned round and went back to Hush for the rest of the night ..

If they'd been doing reduced entry price after 4am (say 15Euros) I'd probably have made the effort to check it out, spent some money inside and even gone back next trip if it was good...

Seems there are some basic things they could easily improve on and promotion needs to be much more positive and proactive if you're launching a new venue of that size ?

Not much PR about - saw a few in pdb, salinas and the port but none in San An - definitely not as much PR people out on force as the other clubs.

Mind you, Boho in San An had an army of PR, parades etc a couple of years ago and it bombed after a year.

I'd like to go to Sankeys, but it'd need to be a night that i know is gonna be busy!

I found this good one, its called space. Don't know if you have heard of it ;)

 - having left Revolution on such a high the day before, and the erm crakin' time @ Freddies earlier, it was a definite 'not going to bug*er up that vibe' moment .. especially as only out there for 2 nights !

PS - Spotlight published a review of Carnival @ Sankeys that night - definitely looks the best night to go to me ....
