*** Sankeys 2012 ***

Alright now I'm mad
Not a single Sankey's night during my trip now. :(
They're basically shutting down 2nd week of September!
 
alright guys, big update from sankeys:

- realtime is cancelled
- mulletover is cancelled
- retro is cancelled

+ carnival has been extended by two weeks 22nd and 29th september. line ups to follow.
+ FUSE events on 25th september and 2nd october

Huge loyal following out on the island and no genre-compatible competition on the same night seem to be essential elements ... Lawler has these in spades on Wednesdays, Diynamic crew also from the British (especially Manchester) crowd on Tuesdays ... and Carnival is there for those too cool to party at Elrow or who will also be seen at Enter/Paradise on Thursdays ;). Think FUSE has been a success, though - no ? Unsurprising as it's spot on for those fed up with the Cocoon or Amnesia thing and for those who sleep through Circo Loco !

The other nights and one-offs probably just falling short in one or other essential area to guarantee success.

What did you make of thd solumon essential mix ?
Personally I wasn't that greatly excited by it.

I will say I've been liking thd recent tunes / sets from darius syrossian & he usually is on (a resident ?) at sankeys on the wedneday
 
Gutted mulletover and realtime are cancelled when I'm back there.. But happy carnival is extended to the 29th :) it was definitely my best 2 nights of this year mainly down to DJ Sneak and KiNK being so f****** awesome :) can't wait to find out who will be there

Darius Syrossian is the other resident every week along with Steve Lawler (& Luis Groove in the other room)

Tuesday is a younger more English crowd and housier. Wednesday is more diverse demographic, age-wise and since lots of locals like Steve there's a greater mix of nationalities there. Plus it's probably on the tougher side musically compared to Tuesdays. I really liked both but Wednesday had the edge.

Don't know if I'd want to do these nights one after the other in the same week ... but maybe. Solomun's sets are prone to a bit of "mozzarella di buffala" - he just gets away with more of it than most in a club setting somehow. He's no 'super-DJ' .. just somehow manages to get people to have a lot of fun and enjoy themselves.
 
Really disappointed about the cancellations at Sankeys !!! I went last September to Ibiza and it was super busy nearly every night at other clubs so im just baffled at why club nights end early and don't run the full season.

Whats the real reason? Is August that much busier? Surely you would wanna run nights for as long as possible when you only have a certain amount of time in a season to make money.
 
^^ Think some people may be a bit worried about risking it with anything other than the sure fire bets.. the August nights I've been to have been quieter than some of the busier July parties last year. Nowhere has been rammed. :o

... That's why I've been back out in August this year !

Didn't hear it. Actually, never heard anything by him. :lol: I'm just looking forward to seeing the club and having fun. ;)

If I go there on Tuesday, it means Wednesday is open for Bloc Party @ Ibiza Rocks if I can face the trek to San An!

The only thing competing on the Tues is Carl Cox at Space (tho actually I'd more be going for Gilles Peterson!), but I'll be heading to Space for Richie Hawtin on Thurs all going to plan.

saw sven vath x2, loco dice once and villalobos once

its was strange, really busy but enough space to move about/dance which is ideal, just the music wasnt doing it plus it seemed no one at all was dancing, no craziness going on :? was disappointed with it both weeks i went this year

i was looking forward to mulletover @ sankeys on the 22nd sept when im back over :( but delighted it has been replaced with carnival! defo the best nights i had on the island this year! hope its a good line up. was sort of being tempted with solomun and tensnake @ pacha that night, but sankeys is a much better club than pacha imo
 
I may have said it elsewhere, but I should probably say it here too. Sankeys was my favourite of the clubs visited in September, maybe because it does have a more British club feel (less posing, I felt). Liked the intimacy (while there still being room to explore), the smoking area and the music on both nights. Will go back next year. :D

The main room reminded me of a bigger subclub:-)
