Walk the West is no longer the same.
The hustle and bustle of the past fades away.
Which was the most lively Sant Antoni spirits now in tatters.

The West End has swallowed up, even as some signs emerge of 'for sale'.
"They are killing us. Last year, which was already bad, had six employees. This year and I can only hire three. And some have thrown in the towel and sold the local "indicates NEWSPAPER IBIZA the owner of a local street Santa Agnes.A few meters below, Nadia repositions some products in the shop door ethnic items. Tourists come with dropper. "Years ago, walking down this street without stepping or tripping over someone was virtually impossible. Today, hardly any people until they reach the 2 am ", says the young woman, who has lived the decline of the area in the past three years.

Causes of decline
The president of the Association of the West, Pep Colomar says several factors behind the decline. On one side is a very poor image of the area. Colomar affects the "serious problem we have with drug trafficking. More and more vendors that are devoted to fiddle with tourists and this greatly degrades the neighborhood. " To combat this situation, Colomar emphasizes a "historical claim: we want more action against drug trafficking. Local police made more than I can. We need more action and, above all, members of the Civil Guard. "But for the president of the West there are two other factors that have been "really crucial to get where we are." Last season "was bad but this year is even more loose," argues Colomar, who warns that the turnover has fallen by between 15 and 20%. This suggests a cause and effect.
The collapse coincides with the entry into force of the ordinance of times passed in July 2013
.
The legislation reduced the West schedule the rest and also establishments have to have a double soundproof door closed in order to avoid discomfort."It was the remedy worse than the disease because now people are in the street," says Colomar, who laments the "debauchery" with the wineries 24 hours.

"All this hits us pocket. We are the ones who fulfill the ordinance. We want repeal, but while this is not possible ask that at least meets the whole world. "But Colomar the "most brutal" competition comes from Platja d'en Bossa. "Here we are small and medium businesses and we have to compete with liners that offer highly competitive products. For 60 or 70 euros the tourist has a pack that includes open bar at a beach club, boat and disco party. "
Therefore, they are calling for a unification of the rules for the whole island. For his part, Martin Makepeace, president of the British Residents Association, stressed the need to undertake "more profound changes. The tourism model has changed and most local of the West have been left behind. " Makepeace points to the need to improve product quality. A thesis also maintains the City. Councillor of State, Aida Alcaraz said the time difference "minimal" and insisted that we must go for quality.THE NOTESant Antoni is committed to a model changeThe City of Sant Antoni understands that the West End should go for a shift. Councillor of State, Aida Alcaraz, said that has to be done more in keeping with the times and offer study the situation with entrepreneurs. Regarding the insecurity in the area, he highlighted the efforts of the local police and stressed the need for a greater presence of the Civil Guard to combat drug sales in the West more effectively. He stressed that the timetable ordinance was approved by the previous government and that the rules on the wineries 24 hours is the Government.
