ddi did for sure. we're making no claims of exclusivety or originality here. they are interviews that we thought would be interesting to our readers who come here on holiday. we are, after all, not a glossy magazine but a source of information for visitors to the island.

San An Jetty
The mayor of San Antonio, Jose Sala, has written to the Port Authorities of the Balearics to ask for a jetty to be built in the port. Sala claimed San Antonio was now a mature destination which was attempting to offer diversity across the board. He reminded them that the PP-run Consell last year suggested a number of measures to reignite the marina, one of which was the installation of a wharf to enable large cruise ships to enter the harbour.
Sala has asked for a temporary jetty to be installed for this summer while projects are made for a permanent structure. He said the moves would prove invaluable to the commercial sector within the municipal, and said he was sure the area would prove popular with cruise companies.

rumours are that all the rentalcarcompanies are ripping out
the radios/cdplayers/soundsystems of their cars, because they are afraid,
that their customers commit "crimes against the environment" (= make noise)
and they are made responsible for their customers
like the villa-owners who hand out their houses to (party)clients

65db!!!!

please clear this up, does this mean if the music in amnesia is more than 65db it will get fined???
or does it mean if they stand outside and take a reading and its more than 65db they will get fined??

for fu*ks sake, why dont they just force the clubs to be like that tent at glastonbury where everyone gets a set of headphones and the music is played through them!
 
haha I would imagine it's from outside so some good sound proofing will be needed! 65dB is very low but as long as you have some heavy duty construction this won't be an issue for most venues 8)
 
i dont get whats going to happen to places like gala night and sunset strip etc?

I cant imagine people on the rocks will be able to hear the music.
 
the solution to control the opening/closing times, the sound levels, etc? more policemen..... the town hall announced today that apart from the 39 they have right now they asked for various "summer policemen" for the season (in total they expect to have 61, including the 39 they already have) and that from mid-june to mid-september none of them will get any holidays as the town hall wants to have them all available :!:

“San An has always been the side of the island that is more affordable for younger kids, most people I know spent their first year or two in San Antonio and then later the return to Ibiza when they have left uni or got better jobs and maybe move over to the Ibiza side of the island,” said Danny.
“To be honest, to try and change San An wont help the island, if San An goes more upmarket it will just force the younger kids to go elsewhere for their first holiday and then maybe they’ll never visit Ibiza at all,” he warned.
“Ibiza has always had a great return of service, it’s one of the key Ibiza success stories, People come to the island for the first time, usually to San An and then fall in love with Ibiza and return on many occasions. If San An suddenly becomes full of VIP style attitudes and prices then we will lose that initial entry point to the island and the kids will be forced elsewhere.
“Personally I hope San An improves each year but doesn’t fundamentally change: San An makes Ibiza affordable for the kids and we defiantly don’t want to lose the kids,” he added

First Year Success
The CCTV cameras in operation within the centre of San Antonio were described as a complete success after their first full year in operation. Councillor Jose Ramon Serra said the 13 cameras dotted around the most conflictive points of the West End had ensured far more control in the area, and they had also been crucial in helping identify the culprits of several crimes. The most serious was the rape of a tourist in the area, which was caught on camera, and enabled police to arrest several suspects. However, no specific details were released about the case due to the sensitive nature and ongoing investigation.
Serra revealed officers were not actually watching live CCTV coverage, and footage was only used to aid the investigation of certain incidents. He said the cameras were constantly recording and tapes stored for one month. If after this period no officers had reported a crime and asked for access to the footage, the recordings were destroyed.

The concept is known as the 'Free Bicycle Service' -
and is an initiative launched by the 'Oficina de Turismo' in San Antonio.
The bikes are ready to be picked up outside the offices (oficina)
of the 'Club Nautico' down by the harbour and outside the 'Oficina de Turismo'.

There are 20 standard street bikes and 32 mountain bikes available for hire -
as well as a number of children's bikes.
It's a simple procedure: all you have to do is go into the office, fill out a contract,
leave a 50 euro deposit and you're all set to go.

When you bring the bike back later on in the day, your deposit will be refunded in full -
provided, of course, that the bike is still in perfect condition.

To ensure that everyone can benefit from the service,
bikes can only be hired for one day.

In the heat of summer, a bike is the perfect vehicle for getting around Ibiza.
The breeze as you ride along is pleasantly cool on your skin,
you'll have no problems getting a parking space
and you can get to locations where no public transport is available -
plus, cycling keeps you in shape.

'Some of the most attractive destinations for cyclists are located
in the Sant Antoni area,' says Jose Ramon Serra, of the 'Governacio i Turisme
Sant Antoni', naming a number of romantic locations by the sea,
such as Punta Galera or Punta de Sa Torre,
as well as beautiful bays like Cala Conte or Cala Salada.

There's no need to worry about getting lost because all of the locations
are clearly signposted.

Even if you do happen to take a wrong turn somewhere along the line,
the island is a small place, so you'll manage to find your way back to a main road
in no time, and are guaranteed to discover places you've never been to before en route.

I like the look of this scheme,hope it works well,although similar things like this have been sabotaged by f......g idiots elsewhere....good luck!
