On medical advice I am going to have to give up DJ'ing, even at home. I have been told by my surgeon that I run a very real risk of going deaf and playing music through headphones only increases the risk. As a result I am, very reluctantly, going to have to sell my entire set up. So, I am selling two CDJ1000s, two 1210 M3D decks, a DJM 600 and a Sony CD burner and technics 1200 headphones. I am willing to sell as a package or as individual items but PM me for details as I'm not sure if selling stuff through the forums is strictly allowed!

Bugger Ben - that is bad news! I'm really sorry mate, you must be gutted.

what about going clubbing?

the volume in some clubs must be as loud if not louder than when you play it through headphones.:?

oh ben thats truly horrible news. really feel for you. hope it aint too serious

and, yeah, what about going clubbing? you should get some of those fancy ear plugs like what marksun has.

oh and i notice on your list of equipment there is no mention of your purple plastic decks:)

that's really awful

you can get specially made clubbing earphones/earphones for musicians can't you, that filter the sound so it's still audiable but much quieter.

I've still got a ringing in my right ear after friday night, I'm worried that it's going to be permanent 8O

no way, sorry to hear that, that's really bad....

I have always turned my nose up at ear pugs but I think I will invest in them after hearing this...

hope you can still go clubbing mate?

Ben I'm really sorry to hear that :( Hopefully you will still be able to go clubbing and enjoy the music even if you have to give up dj-ing :(

I've always stressed the importance of earplugs in clubs, I know some people might laugh but sometimes due the level of music in clubs like Ministry I can actually feel my ears hurting. I've always rolled up a bit of tissue paper and put that in my ears, ok they're not sophisticated earplugs but they certainly do cut out some of the noise.

Sorry to here it mate. Get your self some earplugs ASAP. They are expensive but well worth it. As you know i wear mine every time im out and I never get rininging in my ears anymore.

Ben Ben Ben, I was only joking mate, I'm not even a proper doctor....

Seriously, this all sounds a bit sudden dude. I reckon you want a second opinion with Me and the G man in our surgery in a restaurant in London. Only lunchtimes next week are my free time. What do you say Ben? Rob?

Oh, and for the record, you may wish to say that the DJM600 on offer was a special edition, where the cross-fader wwas replaced with a switch, and the effect knob was stuck on flange?! (only joking everybody)

(Sorry to make light of the situ Ben, hope it's taken in the spirit mate. maybe I could teach you MCing?...)

And I thought he just had selective hearing 8O

 I was going to type are you sure it's the DJing and not Karen but I didn't think it was an appropriate time to make light-hearted of a serious situation

Ha ha! This could be true

A couple of years ago I thought he was just ignoring me. It drove me mad. I would say something and he would pick a few words out and make up his own sentence  I forced him to get it looked at and we found out he had a tumor in one ear. Lately he struggles to hear lots of normal sounding things - even me

Cheers everyone. I've have had problems with my right ear for several years (five years in fact, right aound the time I met Kang.....oh) and these now seem to be appearing in my left ear, hence the seemingly sudden decision.

Clubbing should still be fine, as long as I get the ear plugs that Mark and Rob use, but frequent and loud dj'ing is not an option anymore and I know if I keep my stuff I'll be too tempted to carry on.

X-man, don't try and put of my prospective buyers. That effect button has hardly had any use at all.......
