sad news

I hear and agree with what people say re the showing of respect sometimes becoming...as the spectator said about scousers...mawkish and competitive at the same time.

However this is the wrong battle to fight that one. It's someone who we are all at least aware of - and of course some of us may even know/have met him - and the getting better & then to pass away has all been played out in public, meaning we are at least engaged with it. And evidently some forum members can empaphise with what is going on in a way that I can only imagine.

So just on this one and under these circumstances, show some respect.

whoa, whoa, whoa.......hang on a minute, this has got well out of hand!!!

I dont know frank, I dont claim to know him or his family.

If any of you had bothered to read and digest what I said at the top of the thread, I was merely pointing out that the story saddened me as it brought back some painful memories from last year.......it wasnt meant as one of those "repsectathons" that seem to get everyone so wound up!!!

so to which ever plum that turned it into one............thanks....dickhead!!!

I blame Jonny
(sorry... couldn't help myself!)

No one said you knew Frank, JJ, but you've been through something similar.

You know what gets me? My mom is a few years older than Pat Lampard was... When I hear these stories (and not just this one), you wonder what you'd do if your mom got sick.

Compounding things, I'm halfway around the world. What would happen if I rushed home, they said everything's fine and I left, and then she died? I'd lose it.

But it's one of those things you have to start preparing for. Glad my brother is only a 2.5 hour fight from the 'rents.

Im not saying that Johny, I was having a moan at how the thread descended into farce yet again......and funnily enough It was your namesakes post that proved to be the catalyst!!

don't prepare for it too much mate, hopefully it's a long way off yet!!

I agree with you jj, I'm not one to jump on the 'oh my god a famous person is dead we must do a thread out of respect' bandwagon but in this case I read your thread and the relativity to your own experience (and mine of late but under different circumstances) and appreciated how and why it would affect you.....hence the reason for me not adding to the thread until now!

Strikes me that Jonny is a little bitter, and certainly opinionated!

Back on topic, it is sad, very! Any loss of a relative, particularly that young, is tragic! I hope she rests in peace!!

im glad that the passing of someones mother is a source of amusement to you. hope when it happens to you it's greeted with the same sense of hliarity!!

At exactly what point did my comments point to it being a source of amusement. I just pointed out (in a much too fluffed up way so as not to hurt your little feelings) that its clearly ridiculous paying 'omage to the life and works of Mrs Lampard. Anyway, you still got your panties in a bunch about it and called me a dickhead. So whatever... I can't be arsed to argue with you. I will leave the Spotlight Obituarys to you and Johnny in future. Have fun!

you absolute Cock!!

as I said, if you had bothered to pay attention to the top of the thread, you would have worked out that it was not a homage thread and therefore certainly not worthy of you derisory comments which I find are getting more & more offensive, let alone way off the subject. I stated that I read the story and that it reminded me of my own harrowing experience and therefore saddened me, at no point did I start eulogising or offering my any psyocophantic syympathies to the Lampard family. So at what point did you receive your cue to jump in and start giving it the big'un and trying to be a funny guy??

But I would only really feel it necessary to comment on someone's passing when they may have had really had an impact on my life, or was a truely great person.

erm,........that would be my mother then..........who if im not mistaken I kind of built the thread around??

or have I got it wrong??
