SA TRINXA * No more DJs?!*

Not sure if it’s already been linked again in the last few weeks, but I guess Lily Rinae's film just became even more poignant. And at the same time, a museum piece. An archive to a brief window in time.

Has anyone on the forum been since the ban? Curious to hear what the vibe is like. Really hope - for the owners' sake who've keep such an amazing place going for so long - that trade hasn't dropped off a cliff.
They seem to be pushing Instagram a bit harder than norm

The owners aren’t losing money , for them, the chiringuito is almost like a game! Once the crowd realizes that can’t dance anymore, some of them, especially those there for a stag do or whatever else, might just go to another beach. That kind of crowd had only added to the already high profits of the chiringuito.

That beach is so globally iconic that I doubt it will hit them too hard.

I guess the question for old timers though is whether the journey is still worth it? I way prefer swimming somewhere like Cala Llonga given the choice

Cala Llonga is one of my favorite beaches, because after a night out you can show up at any time and still find a sunbed and umbrella if you want… or you can just set up on the beach with your own umbrella. There are plenty of places to eat simple, fairly cheap food!

As for Sa Trinxa, for me it will always be worth it. In fact… now that it’s been scaled down, maybe it’ll get back a bit of that old-school vibe , even if the DJ will be missed!

I do feel really sorry for the DJs who used to work there and made a living from the gigs at Sa Trinxa, but honestly, lately it was being taken over by people who had nothing to do with the spirit of that place...

The beach will be as usual. Sa Trinxa at the day , too. Only the 2 or 3 hours at the evening will change. It will be as in the 80s. Low music , eating and have some drinks.

This. Especially over the weekends and as Jon played Friday and Sunday, it would often attract large groups.

There was a very noisy, drunken Italian stag do there last year who had to be asked to leave due to their behaviour.

I completely understand !! I’ve been going to Sa Trinxa for 20 years (twice a year), and I’ve seen all the changes. When Moiraghi started playing on Fridays and Sundays, the crowd was often just like the one you described (even without any stag parties).

Moiraghi also promoted Sa Trinxa during his winter season in Milan clubs! So you’d often find groups of (Italian) people on that beach who were arrogant and disrespectful ,not speaking English or Spanish and around 5 PM they’d rush toward the DJ booth, jumping around, drunk, causing a mess, and creating huge queues for the bathroom (if you know what I mean).

As I said before, the real disappointment and the biggest injustice was for the DJs, who were just there trying to do their job and earn a living.

Italians and their obsession with aperitivo culture ruined that place ( and I say that as an Italian).

I will very likely keep going to Sa Trinxa, but is there anywhere that’s even vaguely comparable?

Any hidden gems where there’s a DJ playing good music at a reasonable volume and a mixed crowd?

The other beach bars / restaurants / clubs that I’ve seen or been to are expensive, dull and full of posers.

Maybe it will take a while for somewhere else to pick up the baton?

I’m sorry, but there isn’t another place like it… there never was before and unfortunately there isn’t now either! A place with different, relaxed people… everyone just enjoying the beach, food, and the sea, all with the atmosphere of good music!

There is a beach club with music but no DJ and could be Tropicana at Cala Jondal, BUT the crowd is more or less the same as always at Cala Jondal..!

The Sa Trinxa atmosphere can’t be replicated!! You could feel simplicity, carefreeness, and freedom…

Luckily it never became a beach club but remained a chiringuito, although even Sa Trinxa has been affected by Ibiza’s new trend focusing on luxury, appearances, and show-offs…

Imho

That said, it’s still my favorite place.

I noticed that nobody ever mentions the ashram on here anymore. tbh felt like it was getting a bit pretentious last time we passed by, which was a real shame because we had a celestial sundown there back in 2010 (with Lexx, Mudd & co providing beautiful tunes). if you're not eating, they're not interested I guess

Awful place went a few years ago never again!

I guess WOM is possibly the closest - plus they now have beds & bar / restaurant service on the beach although the DJs are just over from nthe beach, but as @matteoparma says there is no place like Sa Trinxa.
@TiffyBarrett mentioned another place in SE that could be seen similar to WOM. I was menna give it a go on my last trip but never made it and now can’t remember the name!

I went to Sunset Ashram for a friend's 40th two years ago and as we had a lovely booth at the side (requested well in advance`), plus good service, we all enjoyed it but I noticed that many tables were crammed together, including where people walked in, which would not be very enjoyable. I wouldn't go back in a hurry and only for a friend's celebration or if someone really wanted to go.
