SA TRINXA * No more DJs?!*

Still pretty surprised how few DJs (besides the island residents) have shared the petition or commented on it - only a handful of names commenting on Jon’s posts.

I was there. Was a bit gutted as he played for a few tunes and finished really early! Thought there was going to be much more of an atmosphere.
Hence I missed it all LOL
I wasn't that far so I decided to get some sun and a few swims before and try to catch the last bit but when I finally made the move, it was already over...oh well.

I’ll start by saying that I’m not completely sure, so I’m just sharing my honest opinion. Over the past few years, Sa Trinxa (which I mention as my favorite chiringuito) has changed a lot. In the beginning, certain situations would only happen when Franco Moiraghi was playing—usually with lots of Italians, often from Milan, friends of the DJ who wanted the VIP vibe in front of the booth, obviously spending money and constantly causing long lines for the bathroom.

After COVID, though, this kind of scene started happening almost every day. After 4pm, people would start dancing in front of the DJ booth, taking over that part of the chiringuito until around 6pm, making it basically impossible to eat anywhere near the booth!

That said, this kind of situation has increasingly bothered a certain group of people in recent years (remember NO NAME in Playa d’en Bossa? When they started bringing in big-name DJs and attracting more and more people, you saw how that ended…). Well, this is the new Ibiza!

Looks like he's ditching Ibiza for Japan (where he has a big fan base). Sadly I think there will be plenty of people seriously thinking about a different destination too next year with these crazy decisions banning the things that make Ibiza special.

Jon now lives in Asia for most of the year though. 2024 was the first year in a while that he had spent a decent amount of the summer (4-5 months, I think) in Ibiza, playing at Sa Trinxa twice a week, plus also slots at Pikes and Cafe del Mar, amongst others.

Hopefully he will be back. Ideally at Sa Trinxa.

The most frustrating thing is the crowd for this sort of stuff is not big enough to vote with its feet and have any commercial impact on the island. The hotels and super clubs will carry on making money regardless of whether the type of crwod who frequent this forum carry on going to Ibiza or not. I’ve not been in a couple of years and so I can’t really comment, But from afar its hard to feel as if the soul hasn’t been sucked out of it now when you see the sea of phones at UNVRS and sa trinxa being told it can’t play music anymore. Sad times.

On the plus side, having been going since 2011, I finally feel seasoned enough to give the “not the same as it was in my day” lecture to the youngsters 🤣

You're absolutely right - the impact won't be felt. Although ironically, I do think that a good chunk of Sa Trinxa's crowd is actually pretty affluent. Plenty of 40/50 year old Europeans getting jugs of sangria in all day!

Has anyone on the forum been since the ban? Curious to hear what the vibe is like. Really hope - for the owners' sake who've keep such an amazing place going for so long - that trade hasn't dropped off a cliff.
