rumours...here we go again...

im buying privilege
86j5isy.gif

good news - free entry + free drinks for spotlighters ?!?

free spotlight wristbands so we all know each other

but you have to sign the boycott ibiza petition first or its no dice...

thew best thing you could do to privilege is knock it down
no - certainly not.

privilege is a very important piece of ibiza nightlife (history).
it was a great club and (with a little luck) sometimes still is ...
you can spent great nights in this place.

what should be done:

-bring back manumission !
because i don´t think anyone in the near future will be able
to establish such a big successful night (= all rooms open/all rooms crowded)
again there ... the main hall was perfect for manumission´s stage.
...and i don´t like manu @ amnesia.
-cocoloco-room is an icon (no more words needed).
-rename it: get rid of ridiculous "privilege",
show some respect regarding its former glorious heydays and
call it KU again (www.spotlight-forums.com/showthread.php?t=43852).
-i have some ideas regarding small renovations/modifications -
but don´t tell them without getting paid :-)

well, privilege really had some highlights this summer. as others said - monza generally was cool, the closing was brilliant, cocoon opening was definitely one of the best cocoon parties i've ever attended and also tiesto's gigs were cool (for those who like the fluffy and cheesy stuff sometimes - like me)!

important(?) update:

Space do not own the building or the land that the club stands on. Their lease runs out in 2 years time...

so...is Space one of the clubs that have already been sold???

Clubs closing - its too good to close!!

ICEBAER69 may work in Ibiza and have his ear to the ground of the local rumour-mill but i for one don't believe the clubs will close... at worst they'll 'move sticks'.

There's just too much demand for the music and the Ibiza vibe (pilgramidge). It would make really bad business sense to close clubs (if their leases run out, they'll simply move location). Doomsayers go home. So long as the music is sooooo good Ibiza clubs will be healthy.. and wealthy :)

I can't believe that - the land is very valuable yes, but get rid of space and the value of most of the land in the vicinity would drop anyway!

Leases run out all the time and are also renewed all the time, doesnt mean anything unless space deceide not to renew or the landlord wont allow them to renew!!

Makes perfect sense to me.

If you owned one of the big clubs, would you;

a) Try and sell it ASAP knowing the Ibiza government will eventually kill the clubbing stone dead. Also thinking that the Ibiza economy will take a hit as a result.

b) Risk the venue being closed down every summer. Then trying to sell once the local economy has taken a hit and things are not quite so rosy?

Additionally, if you had sold it, were involved in negotiations to sell, you would surely try and hush things up as much as possible.

Since the new laws have been put into place, Ibiza now has some of if not the toughest licensing laws in Europe. In the year 2008, how many European cities make it illegal to hold an after hours party?

Personally, I find it heartbreaking. Not only that the clubs could be closing forever but all the associated fallout that will change Ibiza. I lay majority of the blame firmly at the door of the Ibiza Uncovered producers.

disclaimer: The above is my personal view on the situation only.

Your blaming laws being brought into play in 2008 on a TV show that was on English TV in 1998? Seems a bit far fetched to me, Things change people need to deal with it. People have always said "Ibiza isnt what it was" yet people are still loving the place as much now as they was 10 - 15 years ago. I imagine many years ago now people were kicking up a fuss like this saying the laws have gone crazy cause clubs had to put a roof on.

Clubs Cant open till 12 noon??? What will we all do eh? we can only party for 18 hours straight :(

The clubs were shut in 2007 for various reasons and as a result they have stopped after hours. They have no reason to continue shutting clubs as the stopping of after hours is a post result of the closures. I think Ibiza goverment knows clubbing is huge part of their tourism and is trying to make it a place where all people can enjoy not just 24 hr party goers...We will see next season, I think it will be different but surely ppl can find other things to do between 6am and 12 noon?

Roll on next 2008 Ibiza, i'm sure it will be the same as it's always been and if you sleep between 6 and 12 you won't notice the diff 8)8)

this is my favourite forum ;)
however if i didn't take a look in other forums we wouldn't have know about the two clubs that are being sold...you know everything but you say nothing!
