The thing is, we get to try out the various ways of holidaying, instead of just all inc, which we normally do,
we,ll have to go normal food shopping, when we,re self catering,
as well as trying different rstaurants, when we,re in the b & b
then we get to not cook or clean when we go all inc for 8 nights

It will just be an experience.

we,re coming for the first 2 days as the 11th is our wedding anniversary,
I booked the Ibiza Rocks as a fathers day pressie for hubby, so he could see Madness,
but thats only mon-friday
we then booked the 7 nights at Rosamar, we couldnt get the 8 days, so we then decided to go to PDB for the last night as we,ve not stopped there before, we,ve only had days out there,
plus we get to meet fellow spotlighters on oyr last night/morning on the island,

There was method in my madness , HONESTLY,

Really......thats a new one on me.

If they asked me for a security deposit I would walk out the door and go elsewhere especially if it was not in the terms of the booking.

Try walking out and getting a room somewhere other than Pikey Park, Jet or Ushuaia in late August this year .. all holes from hell to stay at this time of year (sorry, just my ho .. and yes, I do think they all are for various reaons !!!) .. with a non-refundable pre-paid stay walking out would be an expensive stand to take !

Hostal Balearic actually (quite new I think). Incredible value at less than £100 for 3nights in peak season and apart from pita parking issues and no aircon was clean and not a single whiff of a problem or noise at all - in the single early morning I made it back there anyway....

I think if they don't know you I give a hotel more leaway. If after staying a couple of times they still do stuff like that over security damage deposits I wouldn't go back.

Think all this is more prevalent in August. I rarely visit this month for a whole bundle of reasons like that .. like angry wasps at the end of the season, jaded hoteliers are prone to act slightly radomly after a month of carnage. .. I can understand it in a way !

Depends what you do out there - I like Heather's plan .. get very bored with a hotel after 4 days. But without a car to give a thread of stability through it all, might struggle too.

Im reading it as a security deposit for any damage you may cause..... like in a villa.... not for loss of earnings for a no show

You often have to pay or collateralise damage deposits for cars, villas and boats so don't see a big deal with it personally. It sits a little oddly with a hotel or guest house but in areas where there have been problems in the past, why not.

'Surprise' element can be a bit irritating .. but a bit of negotiation in those circumstances usually wins through.

yes, definately the security deposit to cover any damages caused,


there is no availability now for the dates we,re going, otherwise I would do,

we,ve got a mixed bag of accommodation this year, lol


2 nights in the better rooms in Marina hostal, b & b

4 nights in Ibiza rocks , room only

7 nights in Rosamar Hotel all inc

1 night in Mare Nostrum all inc, decided to stay in PDB, so we can catch up with fellow spotlighters before we fly home, and we can also spend an evening at Bora Bora without having to worry about getting buses back to San An, after a couple of glasses of falling down water,


its a bit different to our normal 2 weeks all inc at the same hotel, lol.

That's my idea of hell!

Have stayed in probably the cheapest selection of accommodation in Ibiza and never paid or been asked for a security deposit (Mira Mola, Playa Sol II, San Fransisco).

surely to goodness ANY hotel booking site that was any use would tell you if you needed to pay a security deposit?

I have never been asked for a security deposit at any Hotel I have stayed in even when booking hotel ,flight etc individually and I have stayed in San Antonio Town and San Antonio Bay , also Playa Den Bossa , Portinax , Es cana , Cala Llonga unless they are on about security deposit on a safe then yes I have paid for this
