Rude Hotels

Ive sent numerous emails to the Rosamar hotel, where we,re staying for a week, and Mare Nostrum, where were stopping for our last night,
Ive asked them to confirm if a security deposit needs to be paid, and if so , how much, and asking them to confirm my bookings, as they were booked through booking.com.
but no answer to any of my emails, Ive now sent 3 emails to each of them over the last 2 weeks, its not good, it makes me wonder what sort of service I can expect when we get there,if they cant be bothered to answer emails,

Its a general policy for most hotels not to answer emails in Ibiza so dont feel too bad about it. There are many that will reply, but in most cases they are either too busy, cant understand your English well enough to return a confident/professional reply, or just dont want the hassle of organising something different from the standard.

If you were able to contact them in confident/professional Spanish I would feel you may have a better chance of a reply, in Spanish or Catalan.

surely to goodness ANY hotel booking site that was any use would tell you if you needed to pay a security deposit?

thats what I thought, !!! but on the booking.com site, it didnt mention the deposits, but when you go onto trip advisor, lots of people have mentioned the security deposit at both the hotels
I know at Ibiza rocks we need to pay a deposit, it says so on their site, but didnt know if youngsters at hotels have to pay deposits, and us more mature people dont, just a bit confused, dont want to turn up at the hotels and get a shock, as its a high price deposit

I,ve just looked on your site, and it doesnt say about the security deposit on here either ??

I,ve just been onto booking.com AGAIN, and nowhere does it say about the deposits for these hotels, but someone did say on tripadvisor, that they had to pay 50euros security deposit per person, for the Rosamar !!!

a. if our clients had to pay a deposit, then it woud be stated on the site

b. trip advisor. any old crackpot can post any old codswallop about any old subject on that site. the times has just revealed that writers can get paid for writing fake reviews on it

I was wondering if people that book through certain sites have to pay a security deposit, and people that book through other sites, dont, Ive read on a few sites to be fair about the security deposit being paid at the Rosamar, but cant see anything on their own webpage about it, just didnt want to be caught out,
its no big deal,if I know before hand,
the money will be used for buying hubbys cigars on the last day, so it would be like a savings account.
I just like to be prepared, xx

your assumption is correct. we deal with accommodation where our clients do not pay adeposit but others do. if our clients do have to pay, it is clearly stated, eg allour villas require a surety and the amount is stated for each one.

If a hotel was looking for a security deposit, then that would raise my eyebrows as to the type of customer it attracts......

well, a lot of San An hotels asking for them now, Bez - even I was asked for 50Euros this last weekend .. we settled on my leaving a debit card behind as security instead with a bit of sweet-talking.

That's in a place with a no noise after 10pm policy !

Looking at the state of the streets this morning can't say I blame the hotels. It was a sight to behold.

i think only the Rosamar would charge you that.when you get there.as now its more 18/30s 20s staying there.but the Mare Nostrum you will not be charged.what date you going anyway.

i once booked to stay in the club paraiso now ibiza rocks.in 2003.no mention on booking that you had to pay a security deposit.untill you check in.so just make sure you have a bit put to one side to cover it.makes sence no matter who you are or our old.

Why's that?

I've stayed at Garbi for the past few years (always booked through Ibiza Spotlight ;) )and they take a deposit of one-night's stay.

I'd say Garbi attracts a pretty good clientele! (and not just because I stay there )

It's not problematic, though. Spotlight refunds you immediately if you have to cancel your reservation.

Edit: not sure if original poster means a security deposit to confirm your booking, or some sort of security deposit when you check in (usually hotels just take an imprint of your credit card for incidentals)

Really......thats a new one on me.

If they asked me for a security deposit I would walk out the door and go elsewhere especially if it was not in the terms of the booking.

Im reading it as a security deposit for any damage you may cause..... like in a villa.... not for loss of earnings for a no show

why not cancel the booking.com reservation and rebook through spotlight?

then that way you know for a fact you do not need to pay a deposit?

yes, definately the security deposit to cover any damages caused,

there is no availability now for the dates we,re going, otherwise I would do,

we,ve got a mixed bag of accommodation this year, lol

2 nights in the better rooms in Marina hostal, b & b

4 nights in Ibiza rocks , room only

7 nights in Rosamar Hotel all inc

1 night in Mare Nostrum all inc, decided to stay in PDB, so we can catch up with fellow spotlighters before we fly home, and we can also spend an evening at Bora Bora without having to worry about getting buses back to San An, after a couple of glasses of falling down water,

its a bit different to our normal 2 weeks all inc at the same hotel, lol.

All that packing and unpacking would upset my Ying and Yang:)

Its our 1st time of doing it, and it may be our last,
the first 2 days isnt a problem,as the clothes for those 2 days will be in our decent sized hand luggage,
