While I don't necessarily rate him as a manager, I think Sven gets a raw deal in the UK press. If he were British, the incessant muckraking coverage of his tenure would be non-existent. But he's a Swede... easy target for the sadly nationalistic English media.

True... he doesn't help himself. But he took a lot of unwaranted criticism even back before we knew what a philanderer he could be

I'll reserve final judgement until after the World Cup. He's got a talanted squad (barring injuries) so if England don't do well in the finals then we'll have definitive proof that his decent record up until now has been just a combination of luck and undirected player talent.

Tbh I don't think he's ever proved his worth esp with the squad he's had (I know people will say he's the most successful England manager you've had for years) but 2 quarter finals in the last 2 major competitions isn't really something to write home about imo I was reading this morning in the Metro that the FA would have got rid of him after this latest fiasco if it wasn't for the fact that it's so close to the World Cup, don't know how much truth there is in it but it seems like even the FA have enough of him.
