richmond area ADVICE needed

ok, me thinks im not moving to edgware anyway. it seems too far away. was offered a nice room in Richmond-area near kings road. is this any good? And also: whats the nearest tube and how long does it take to get into zone 1?

There's no Richmond near Kings Road. There is a Richmond in Zone 3 (4 :? ). Richmond is a lovely area, it's right by the Thames and you've got Richmond Park. There's lots of nice little shops and bars/restaurants. The only downside to it is that it attracts lots of tourists so in summer the place is overrun with Americans.

The District line runs from Richmond and there is also a fast overground train that takes you to Waterloo.
 
ok then i must have been mistaken HA! OK BUT NICE AREA SOUNDS GOOD. And waterloo is ok. not far away from the area I need to be working either. Hope this guy wont charge me too much!

Good websites for train/tube queries are:

www.railtrack.co.uk - gives times for train journeys
www.tfl.gov.uk - for tube/bus times/journeys

Richmond to Waterloo takes between 20-30 minutes depending on whether you get straight thru train or one that stops at all the smaller stations inbetween.
 
good! peeps tell me the area is quite good and safe so this is perfect. the guy who owns the apartment has an apartment i can borrow in copenhagen as well so its kinda perfect! and hes away 200 days of the year so Im in luck!
 
check that it's not actually the kings road you're going to, and the richmond part was incorrect!

Kings road is a v.posh area of london, very nice if you like shopping too.

The King's Road was the place to be when I was about 16/17 - blooming yonks ago :lol: :lol:

I really don't get the Kings Road, I'm sure if you'd been there in its heyday it was fab but now it's just full of middle-aged women shopping and lunching and wearing fur :evil:
 
I agree Babs and the pavement is far too narrow - I hate that about it :

it's the place to meet posh types - pitcher and piano etc is home to posh uni students at home for the weekend/holidays and other working posh ones that don't really know where else in london to go or mummy or daddy has bought them a flat there

There's no shops round South Kensington, that's where the National History Museum etc is, do you mean High Street Kensington?? That's ok for shopping.
 
High Street Ken has really gone downhill. It used to have nice unusual shops as well as Hyper Hyper but it's all gone to make way for Dixons and phone shops :evil:

barbie yes thats what i mean! lol* my god IG has the whole of London mixed up! lol* - well its official. Im moving on the 1st of February.
I have already annulled all magazine subscriptions, my danish phonenumber, internet and cabel tv - my gymcard and all extras. So Im really saving money the next months and I just need one single thing sorted! I need A JOB IN LONDON! Argh, thats going to be the hard part.
