review: steve lawler in zurich/switzerland (20th may)

well, the man played in zürich and it was the first time i ever saw him playing live. i only knew him from his (damn good) reputation over the forum here and the talk about him on the island. missed him once at space, so this time i really wanted to give it a go!

...now..., err,...i don't know if he had a bad day (respectively night) then, but his set was absolutely nothing special! he just played a set full of average house and techhouse tunes without any highlights! good mixing, yes. but i really had expected more of him. you lot always talk so good about him!

did anyone hear him lately? any experiences?

He played a storming set at hifi :? . He did take a while to get going, but after about 30 mins he was at his best...

Do you usually like prog-house?

yes, i do!

a friend of mine (who had seen lawler before, contrary to me) who also had been there that night said he'd never seen him as bad as this.

remember, i don't say it was bad - it was just nothing special, a bit too average for what i had expected!

Pitty he was average. I hope it was only a one off bad day!

so do i! going to see him @ pacha in ibiza this july - hope he'll rock then (as he did at hi-fi apparently)
