Renting a car...

How old do you have to be? How expensive is it? Does it include full insurance etc...?

Just were staying in San An and most days want to travel to the best beaches etc.

Hi Matt

Generally speaking you have to be over 21 and have at least 3 years driving experience since passing your test. Sometimes the age limit is relaxed. If you book in advance expect to pay about 40 euros per day for a small economic car (a kia picanto or similar), but this price will reduce if you book for more than one day. The cars normally come full of fuel and you return it full, otherwise you will be charged for the full tank. Depending on the company, a small charge (normally 3 or 4 euros) will be added to pay for comprehensive insurance. This does not normally however, cover damage to the tyres, windows or the underneath of the car.

Have fun and safe driving.

Chris

Cheers! We all over 21 and most been driving for a while so that shouldnt be an issue, had a feeling it might be over 25 like alot of places in Europe.

Yeah you will find the more powerful cars of the range may be over 25's but to be honest these are a waste of money. Even the bottom of the range cars will take 4 people with some luggage.

This depends on when you go and how long you'll be there. I booked for 2nd half June at a rate of 22 euros/day for 2 weeks. Last year I had 24 euros/day for 10 days. That's for a 2nd tier economy car (5-door with a/c). You can pay less for a 2-door economy car.

Yeah thats what I was trying to say, if you book for single days expect a slightly higher price, but yes you are quite right that if you book for a week the price per day reduces by a large amount.
