release yourself

yeah Roger Sanchez plays 7 hours at pacha every Monday night. if you see it advertised that he is playing an exclusive 8 hour set i found out that it really means 1 hour at the pre-party at cafe mambo and the other 7 hours is at pacha. saying that i went to the closing of release yourself 3 years ago at pacha and he played until 8.30am, closing with 'Another Chance' which he produced. love that track.

he plays such long sets as he starts off quite funky, then gets into deep house and then crosses between tribal and electro, its so he can build his sets to a massive climax which usually is between 4-7am. he is one of my favourite DJ's and i have had the pleasure of meeting him for a photo at cafe mambo a few times and he is a nice chap, always in a rush though.

i know that in the past (4-5 years ago) he has had some guests in the global room at pacha such as Dean Coleman, Rulers of the Deep. but the global room is much more R n B and rap now.

if you do go to Release Yourself this year you will not be disappointed, he is probably the most technically gifted DJ i have ever seen, has so much energy behind the decks and rocks every party he plays. im going to the closing again this year as im there for a week. his party is always one i dont miss whilst im in ibiza.

anyone else agree/disagree about sanchez?

Agree with you 110% Mr Jenx!! Every year I go, the highlight of the whole holiday for me is watching Sanchez in action delivering a mind blowing set and dancing the kitten heels off my shoes! I honestly wear a pair of shoes out everytime I see him....!

Like always, it's the best night of the week, every time I go to Ibiza I'm going to this night.
I saw him the first time at El Devinio, a year later he was at pasha and still is !!!

My first time in Ibiza was 2002 and we went to Release Yourself (which was the first year for Sanchez @ Pacha) and it blew me away, still consider that set to be one of the best I've ever heard. Since then, we went every year and each time had a fantstic experience.
However, last year was total crap. Choice of records, mixing, everything to be honest.. I don't exactly know what the reason was (some people said that he was off his head big time but I don't know). Anyway, it got better around 5 A.M but my faith in the man had made a downfall. Still, you gotta consider the fact that it was just one particular night out of many. Things like this can happen to the best.
But this year I will rather choose Morillo over Sanchez because of that night in august last year

Keep in mind that this is all VERY personal and could also have a lot to do with my own state of mind that evening. Just wanted to share it!

Saw Sanchez at KOKO (London) 2 weeks ago and he was f**** SICK! I have seen him play 3 times in the UK, and every time he has been OK, nothing compared to Ibiza.....but if the session I have just seen is anything to go by.....OMIFEK it's going to rock!
