Can anyone recommend a holiday resort/destination kind of like Centre Parcs :? Somewhere where you can just relax and do a bit of lesuirely sport, country walks etc. We wanna go away next week and because it's half term EVERYWHERE is booked up. I really like the idea of Centre Parcs aswell  but they've got no availability.

Does anyone know of any other places similar to them :?:

How far you willing to travel??? I notice you are based in the South.... but there are some lovely places up towards the lakes/cumbria

or

Centerparcs in the Lake District. http://www.centerparcs.co.uk/ow/ow_c1_intro.jsp

A company do some wicked log cabins up around York somewhere with some sports activities.

Can't remember the name, but a friend said they were amazing places.

I'll do a search if it sounds like your thing.

We spent last NYE at a mate's near here:

Lots of nice country side for walking etc. There's lots of little farm house B&Bs nearby that are even cheaper than above. We had a double room in a nice farm on NYE for £25!

Do a search on the Cheshire village of Bollington - loads of guesthouse and a nice setting also.

Maybe a bit too North, but much better than England!!! If a little colder. Has everything you could need.

:D

Bit far away though!

I've been to Aviemore before, it's gorgeous there isnt it? We're going to Glencoe in January though so wanna try somewhere different than Scotland!

Babs - All the deals for Tunisia are coming up at £500+ each now... they've doubled in price

Used to go Santaland in Aviemore every Christmas. (Bit tacky but when you're young, brilliant) They have modernised the area in a good way now, and it has everything you could need. Beautiful area, but very very cold. Especially this time of year. If you are going to Glencoe then prob best doing soemewhere else this time around for variety purposes.

Ach, ule hav a braw time!!

I'm back home in Scotland (Forfar) christmas time. Cannot wait to get out of London for a bit!

Do you have to take next wk off work, could you and Jon move it to the following wk when all the brats are back at school, even places in England will be lots more expensive cos of half-term

Unfortunately it's our college half term aswell, so we'll just have to slum it with the Brats next week ;)
I've been looking at some cottages in Wales, I quite fancy that, snuggling by the log fire, pub lunches, horse riding etc :D

Just to update - we're going to the Brecon Beacons in Wales on saturday! Staying in a Hoseasons cottage (Thanks Scoob ;) ) which has horse riding, dry ski slope, tennis courts and heated swimming pool nearby!

Better unpack my bikini and pack some wooly socks

Cant wait :D

hmmm that sounds wonderful - I could just fancy snuggling up in front of a log fire - drinking hot chocolate laced with brandy after a bracing walk in the countryside etc - room for a little one????

My grandparents holiday cottage in aviemore

http://www.holidayaviemore.com/properties/shunem/

Own grounds, no other buildings in site. Snow capped mountains in the distance and a roaring log fire.

I go up as often as possible. The Highlands are a great way to blow away the cobwebs after too much partying! 8)

Cheaper in the youth hostel though!!

Cant get cheaper than free! Its a great place though isn't it. I grew up in Nairn a few miles away, before i turned into a swaggering manc scally

Fair point!

I like the little village of Boat of Garten. Did a geography field trip in Aviemore. Loved it. Was half way up the Cairngorms with geological measuring devices, waded through a river to get a level size and collected pebbles to boulders to show water erosion on stones. The thought, I'll do human geography instead and sat in a pub in Boat of Garten before going round all the houses asking what people thought of the English immigrants hiking up the house prices!

BRilliant Week Away from Forfar! :D
