Hello!

3rd year back in Ibiza this year, so much still to learn. We only discovered Bora Bora last year and spent basically every day there before we went on to a big club night. Loved it to bits! Google tells me that other beach clubs exist (such as Sirocco)....are there any that compare to Bora Bora (play awesome beats, have a dance floor etc) that you would recommend??? Many thanks!

Bora Bora isnt all that anymore. Just lives through its name / reputation imo . Sirocco has some great day time lineups planned, well worth a visit

Keep an eye out for events at Sands too. La Plage is gone now but was great last year. Others will emerge this year I'm sure.

It depends what music you like... If you love Bora Bora you might not like the events at Scirocco. Bora Bora always looks packed and like a great atmosphere to me when I walk past but the music isn't my cup of tea. Seems to be that kind of Hed Kandi electro house music.. I dunno really. La Plage was a great beach bar but sadly as previously mentioned it's gone :( and yes Sands is good, I went to Carl Coxes birthday party last year. Scirocco is further down the end of the beach by the watch tower.. There were some things happening last year although when I went there late one night there were a lot of people but music was too daytime beach bar for me and everyone was standing around chatting.. So I'll probably check it out again this year seeing as it's free :)
sal Rossa is where you might be lucky to stumble upon a cocoon after party as I did last year. That's further down that end as well but not so far as scirocco :)

not sure if all is lost for la plage, there might be hoping!

sirocco should be good with art of dark and of course tINI and the gang.

bora bora can still be superb nowadays, just depends on who (which promoter) is having their event. it's like a club really, there are also nights at amnesia which you love to go and others you might not want to attend.

the new JAG might be worth a try (monza records on wed for example).

sands has some fantastic events over the summer.

la sal rossa for cocoon afterparties...and more.

I sincerely hope so as Groove Armada's party at La Plage was one of my favourite nights of last year and free as well :D Where abouts is Jag?

not sure if those parties will be back (as much as i loved them - especially the fritz kalkbrenner date).

jag is just next to ushuaïa (between usuaïa and plastik)

So many beach parties popping up out the woodwork. Really looking forward to it.

am I right in saying more than last year?

I will take a look at sirocco beach this summer hoping thar will be dj Pippi in the mix...
I hang aroung la plage around 5.pm (or Sands ? i don't remember, close to desert building look like olympe architecture..) last closing (Grey stormy weather this day), the techno sound (Marco Carola?) was good even not my cup of tea, & the bouncer ask for a tip to enter in 8O (do he thought i was a numb?moron , i step back..)
For Jag, even the owner is a french tv reality dude "Greg le millionaire" , i will go for Raza party on monday with Jamie Lewis & Inaky garcia (anyone owe el divino ibiza 2001 mixed by inaky? that wot i called funky house music 8))
For bora bora the music ain't so bad, depends on the djs...
Konga or Pinup ..memories

That would be La Plage you are talking about. Some of the parties were a bit snobby I think. I can't remember the name of the night that did the free parties there but all we had to get was a wristband early in the day which was free. Chances are that was Marco Carloa and his team of cronies not letting people in seeing as of late he thinks of himself as a superstar rather than a DJ . What's the deal with Konga? It looks like (from the shoes lol) that it may have been a bit before my time, maybe mid 90's? The first time I went to Ibiza was 1999 and that looks like my kind of place, or maybe it's just those people look like they've been out on a long session haha

Thanks for confirming it was Marco Carola @ La plage..i don't like the tip stuff at entrance door , it reminds me some vip place in Paris when rich people give a tip such as 75€o the bouncer to let them get in the club  ):You can't enter the club if you don't know the bouncer in VIP place (music is rather commercial there but you got the hottest girlz there:spank:):ok if youre a foxy lady:all is opened for you  or if you show, you are loaded of money too (..i enjoy more taking some drinks at the bars in order to contribute to the organization of the party... maybe will give a try for a party With Marco Carola this summer..
1999 was my first time in ibz...i was not into dance music at that time ..seeing cox at Mambo Cafe playing House music 8) & only 10-20 people max around him & asking to my m8 :who is this black guy?
The music @ Konga was great...going to bora bora at 9 am was nice too at this time...

Yep Beach parties & bar parties are an alternative to big clubs.

No I wasn't confirming it was Marco Carola haha I just thought you could be right :) I wouldn't bother going to see him, he seems to be quite the diva! The beach bar Sands belongs to Carl Cox partially, I went to the event he put on for his birthday. It was free too and another one of my favourite day/ nights of last year. If all if the events at Sands are similar you should give it a go.. It's between the 2 Ushuiaia hotels so hopefully it won't be affected by this :)
