You must have the full address of the picture's location, and it must end in .jpg or .gif.

You can't.
But it's unlikely that the picture's actual internet location ends in htm. On whatever web page you find the picture, put your cursor over the graphic, right click on your mouse, and pick "properties". The window that opens up should have the exact location of the photo which you can copy and paste.
