we had quite a lot of rain yesterday causing chaos all over the island.

i took this on the porch at about 9 am. it looks like night as the hailstones bucket down!

mention this every time the subject of rain is mentioned with ibiza............
but have u ever experienced the 'sand rain' phenomenem, i.e. when it basically rain sands that have been swept up into the atmosphere as a result mainly of northern saharan sand storms.

last one i experienced was in june 2001 and it lasted about 3 mins and then just dissapeared............it was totally mad.........just started spitting blobs of watery sand for a couple of mins and then stopped

yes. it's called lluvia de la tierra and you're right, it's caused by hot dry sand carrying air from the sahara meeting cold alpine air from the continent.

as for that blue thing in the yard, it's just a giant drinking bowl for the cats and dog.
