Radio one Ibiza 2021?

its normally end of July start of August but unless they have put a statement out anything would be pure guess work at this point

For next year pal not this
ar right yeah I think next year has a good chance of been business as usual depending on the whole second wave side of things, im sure they will follow up with a date when the inevitable of officially cancelling this years comes about

Yeah fingers crossed we’ve booked anyway so see what happens ?

I heard from a decent source that that the plan was that this year would be the final R1 in Ibiza. Recent years have already been scaled back and this being the 25th anniversary would be a good closing chapter. The rationale was that a significant amount of the R1 demographic in the U.K. no longer resonates with Ibiza nor with its prices. Who knows if they’ll change plans again.

I don't doubt your information...but Radio1 really does delude itself, it thinks its audience are trendy teenagers when really the average audience is around 32! And being of that era we are of the age of dreaming about going to Ibiza during the 90s boom and then being in the EDM boom in the 10s. Its a good jolly for the staff so reckon some will be begging for it to remain.

Cant see it happening in 2021 though, it would be a bad image for Radio1 to be flying people out and then risk having a gathering that wasn't socially distanced.

I gave up on R1 in my late 20s as I'd outgrown it and graduated on to 6 and specialist stations, streams etc. I assumed most people grew out of it by 30. Maybe that's changed I dunno?

I assumed that R1 still appealed to all the ibiza rocks kids?

The problem with radio 1 is the government put a lot of pressure on that its content should be aimed at 15-29 year olds, and definitely in the earlier ages in that bracket.

Im in my early 30's and have started to drift into Radio2 (though they are a bit 'smashy and nicey' at times!) Should listen to 6Music more but always forget. Would love a proper Electronic music station that doesn't just play bad remixes of Pop songs but realise its a niche audience. I use Soundcloud and Spotify playlists mainly for my Techno fix.

As for what the 'kids' listen too I've not the foggiest anymore! TikTok confuses me, I've never heard of almost all the Grime acts and Youtubers that are filling the charts up. If I liked what bits I did hear I'd find out more but most of it sounds utter shite :)

@Digital2013 agreed on the electronic music station. Apart from Rinse and Kiss FM our needs have never really been catered for in the UK and the aforementioned stations have still played a lot of garbage down the years. There hasn't been one consistent station banging out techno.

Speaking of radio I do love listening to the stations in Ibiza during my visits. Global and Sonica are great.

App recommendation- Radio Garden. Lots of international stations which you choose by shifting a map around. Global and Sonica are both on there
