Hi peeps. I am trying to devise a questionaire about music piracy and I'm after some extra questions to put down. Any help would be appreciated.

Ta

I have these so far......

• Would you consider yourself as an avid music fan?

• What is your favourite genre of music?

• How much music do you consume in an average month?

• Do you consume in physical or digital form?

• Do you ever obtain music illegally?

• Do you purchase pirate cds?

• What is the main reason for you doing so?

• Do you buy an album if you enjoy the illegal copy?

• Do you feel that music piracy is hurting the industry?

• Do you feel threatened by the increasing amount of prosecutions against people who illegally obtain music?

• Would you consider yourself as an avid music fan?
Yes.

• What is your favourite genre of music?
House

• How much music do you consume in an average month?
Consume?! LIsten to? 3-4 hours a day

• Do you consume in physical or digital form?
Digital

• Do you ever obtain music illegally?
Yes

• Do you purchase pirate cds?
No

• What is the main reason for you doing so?
(on illegal) It's not available to purchase

• Do you buy an album if you enjoy the illegal copy?
N/A

• Do you feel that music piracy is hurting the industry?
Yes and No

• Do you feel threatened by the increasing amount of prosecutions against people who illegally obtain music?
At risk of tempting fate, not really. TBH, I wouldn't be bothered if they did. In some ways, I'd gladly give them any fine (within reason! Say sub £2,000).

(I must say, I would have worded the questions different (though I think everyone who "does" someone elses survey thinks this, so feel free to disregard that comment ;))

No mate that's ok if anyone could suggest any other questions or a better way
to word them then that’s cool, no offence will be taken just want to make it better

cheers for your help

You might want to ask how they go about obtaining music illegally (i.e. by burning their mates CDs, using p2p apps or sharing mp3 directly with mates).

Depending on your agenda with this survey, I wouldn't even use the phrase "obtain music illegally." Ask specific questions like the one's Mark mentioned
- Do you download music through a peer-to-peer program.
- Do you download music from a website that doesn not require payment
- Do you regularly copy or rip your friend's CDs?
- Do you regularly copy or rip your friend MP3 files?

Also, perhaps ask if the person purchases digitial music legally
- through a pay-per-song online store (like iTunes)
- through a subscription service (like Napster or Yahoo Music)

The word "consume" is confusing. Is that how much you listen or is it how many albums/songs you acquire/purchase?

I assume from the following question that you mean how much you listen, but the answers to both questions might be of interest.

I'd put in some sample answers (a-b-c-d) on a question like "Why do you [purchase pirate CDs]". Because they're cheaper? more available? Actually, I can't even think of more than 2 answers for that question so why bother?

That's my 2 pence.

Might be interesting to know if they believe it's morally ok to do so or not, regardless of whether thay actually do it.
