Put Em' High............

Out in the shops on 16th August, most of already know this tune off by heart, but let make sure that every one else knows that there is another ibiza anthem other than Lola Theme.

The CD is full of top remixes and even has a top video of Therese on it (worth buying just for that)

Let mess up the Busted and Mcfly wars and put Stonebridge (aka Stoney, off this very board) at the top of the charts

Go on you know you want to

How long has this been available on vinal??? i have a mate at uni and he loves hed kandi, he made a cd for us at after parties and there are loads of tunes that are being played that now are on this cd he made months ago. we was bopping to Put Em High that long ago it feels daft that i am still hearing it??

I first got Put Em High in March l think, with a Hed Kandi Test Pressing label and Lolas theme came out at the Miami WMC!!

Just been to Hed Kandi night at Stereo, Newcastle. Top night as always, the Newcastle crowd are always up for it and very knowledgeable.

Totally unannounced, out of the blue, a surprise PA by Therese!!! 8O She appeared on the bar with radio mic and just rocked the joint. Unbelievable! What a fantastic artist, and can she sing! Brilliant!!! :D

Later, when she was in the DJ booth she joined in with Shapeshifters Lolas Theme and sang that too. Then she did a rendition of Put Em High over the top of Josh Wink's - Higher State Of Consciousness. 8O :D

Top night!!! :D :D :D

I'm sorry this tune is so old and boring now that its worse than lolas theme in that respect. Its been banged out non stop since last summer and is now just getting on peoples nerves. Why did HK not release it sooner, they just seem intent on having a commercial chart number one, they even admit as much. In my opinion its been the continual pushing and playing of this track thats ruined hk and their nights. Its stopped them moving on and means that a HK night now is exactly the same as 12 months ago with the same tune and the same live PA when therese sings it as she seems to at every other hk night. Just doing the same thing for 12 months = boring. Move on!

Totally disagree, it didn't get on anybody's nerve last night, everybody was well into it.

It had a limited release in March this year, I have it on 12" vinyl. It may be this is a re-release after a strategic re-think on how to make more impact with a higher profile and therefore commercial success. They are a business after all and have to make money.

As for ruining HK nights, what a load of tosh! I have been going to a HK night at Stereo for months and it goes off every Sunday. Put Em High is only played once each night. So, if every other tune is played only once, how can Put Em High ruin the night????

As a DJ I spend a lot of money on new tunes but can't keep up with what's played at HK nights, there are loads of fresh tunes every night. Afaik this is the first 'live' PA at Stereo by Therese, so, can't be the same as 12 months ago.

At HK at Pacha London in Feb (or poss March?) it was played at least three times on the main floor and a couple in the smaller room. At least one of the plays in the main room was accompanied by an announcement about it's release the following week.

I wouldn't say it ruined the night for me though, and to be honest the people that go every month seemed to love it.

Nine times out of ten, however, more than one play is too much of any tune is too much. On the 10th time, the tune of the night, or of a particular set can be a great sign-off.

I'm sick of hearing it, i stopped going to HK nights this year after hearing it so many times, and loads of other big tunes over and over, and cause of the same PA's at every night too. HK nights used to be fresh and different. When they started out i used to love it and their albums. I feel they havent moved on though and have become stale and boring. If i have a good night then thats great but i dont then want to go to another night and hear almost exactly the same songs again....

I only started this thread so people knew this song was being released, if people don't like it you don't have to buy it, the choice is yours. Lets not get on a downer about it, there are far more important thing in life.

It's probably different at Stereo because it is basically a pub with a late Sunday license till 12.30am. It fills up between 9-10pm so there's only 2 and a half hours.

I must admit that in my venue (a totally different commercial environment) I often play tunes a couple of times per night, but, I work for 4 and a half hours per night and have a moving crowd. The venue holds 250 max but we normally have over 800 thru the door during the course of a night. It gets a bit annoying and frustrating when I've just played a tune and then someone who has just come in requests it again, even moreso if it's a crap commercial tune. I usually won't play it again for around 45 minutes to an hour. But, I'm primarily there to play requests where possible, so.............

WTF?

How can you say you hate Hed Kandi because it plays the same warm, semi-cheesy, girly house over and over?

That is Hed Kandi! It's not rocket science, and that's why loads of people love it (including myself :) ).

It's like saying you don't like Bora Bora because there's too many beautiful people dancing in their swimming costumes. ;) 8) :D

I would never count HK as forward thinking or ground breaking, but an example of doing what they do absolutely perfectly.

They best house night for beautiful people who make an effort when they go out, and not for the musical chin-strokers, or the "where shall we go tonight after the pub crowd"

Joey/Mambo - I wouldn't worry about a bit of constructive criticism here. I would guess Stoney and Mr Doyle are more than aware that the likes of the regulars here won't buy the commercial release of a tune they have heard umpteen times over the last 6 months.

We're not the market this release is aimed at, So... our opinion won't matter too much. It's very catchy and is now has been played in my local surburban pub on a Friday night for weeks now - it'll prolly be number one before you know it.

That is all.

i've got hk albums, i bought them when i used to enjoy going to hk nights, and enjoyed the ablums.I currently still listen to the back to love albums.

i stopped liking the nights and new albums when it all got too samey and predidtable, when certain tunes became the standard and always played hk anthems, the same tunes over and over, not just at the nights but on the albums too. When albums were released with all the same songs on as the previous ones that year.

Obviously there are new tunes too all the time but it was (and still is) the persistant playing of a handful of songs that ruined it for me. It wasnt just hk's fault, the crowds too started to expect the same few songs all the time so i guess the people who like them got what they want which is good for them.

The same again and again PA's seem lame too. I heard peyton and therese singing their songs last year. Yet they're still doing the same thing at nights now. Why not new singers doing pa's from new tunes too? Maybe this has happened and i dont know about it.
