boss has offered me the position of Creative Director/studio manager.

8)

thing is, never managed anything before (unless u count teams on Championship Manager)...

tips? do's and don'ts?

ta!

cheers robo.

tis just the transition from being one of the gang to the evil dictator in the corner that im slightly concerned about.

u know me, i like to give it the raw truth and hate dressing things up cos it never helps.

just don't change mate. You can still be one of the gang. Just don't go in on monday all guns blazing. You need to do it subtle. Don't go in on monday and tell what them to do from then off. That will piss them off and then you've lost them forever.

Whatever the resto of your team looks like, always have just one lone striker, with two forwards/AM's just behind (pushing up if against crap opposition or at home.)

In the same boat Chewie my friend, offered promotion, great salary hike but to be honest the thought of managing 2 of the team fills me with dread - I dont know if the cash incentive is worth the headache of managing these two - they both middle aged women, (ooh hark at me  ) both hate each other and constantly moan moan moan about each other - I would probably bang their heads together and tell them to get a grip, but apparently that's not management style.

I reckon I will be relieved of my promotion pretty sharpish should I take up their offer....... oh what to do!! :?

Come on guys remeber when the first school day was such a horrible thing you would never survive. I bet some of us even vried for their mommy all day long. Take the promotin or you will be thinking the rest of your life what if ...

Buy 'em all a big pizza to share for lunch one day a week or cakes, or something nice like that, especialy when you've been busy and they've done well/done a lot of work.

Hey.. didn't I just say in your post about having too many projects that you would be rewarded for your efforts? Congradulations! Just be kind but firm... that's all it takes.

:D
