My sis and her hubby are off in March - will give you an update after that....

However, they are into punk and rock and their idea of a good bar may not be yours....... :? :?

Indeed!!!! was having a but pogo around only a couple of weeks ago when I went through the old vinyl collection... was brilliant!!

He's so professional - he's nothing like me...

My boyfriends family have an apartment in Krakow.
Your right there are some seedy areas, but some good research prior should mean that ul have a wicked time, they have some lovely restaurants and bars....so i am told. And the music scene is getting better!

Make sure you sample some polish sausage....that sounds so rude!! Not that kind!! Its lovely and a speciality!!

I saw that, so is the Schindler factory from "Schindler's List" 8O :(

I would like to go but I think it may be a little heavy for a weekend break.

I've heard it is harrowing to visit.

i would still go... i still remember it from 10 years ago... i think its a must

not a oh-what-fun-is this kind of thing... but I really really really recommend going!

Went at in late may last summer, Just go down town and walk around, everything is cheap as hell, there are quite a few small bar/night clubs and none that I visited had any sort of cover so you can walk in and walk out if you don't like it. One good club I went to was called Frantic, good music, really sweet down stairs cellar/chill out area (kinda like some places in Prague) and the upstairs dance floor was unique and a great time. You will find it on Szewska street in the old town area (lucky I have the map hanging on my wall. Another good one was Prozac on the corner of Grodzka and Dominikanska, but there were many more english, football shirt wearing types there (not that it is necessarilly a bad thing), but just so you know how it was when I went. Actually, it might just be easier for me to take a picture of my map and post it cause I had a local chick mark all the good bars and clubs on it... But I only went to Frantic and Prozac...

I wouldn't go to auschwitz if you want to stay in a good mood, everyone should see it at some point in their lives but not if they are just looking for a good weekend...

Picture on the way

The light blue are Frantic and Prozac, the dark blue are places you could go but I don't know anything about... hope that helps

Was there in November.

If you're just going for the weekend then I wouldn't recommend Auschwitz as you really need a full day. There's also Birkenau camp only a mile away which is also a must do, both can be done in the one day. Yes it is very harrowing to visit, last November I actually stood in the gas chambers in Auschwitz! 8O Very sobering. :(

You've also got the Wieliczka Salt Mines which is also a must do but you'd need another day for that.

Here's a good website I used with tons of info for you;

I was in Frantic and Prozac too and had a good time, you'll find lots of clubs, bars and restaurants in underground cellars which adds to the atmosphere. Bars and restaurants were around 70-80 pence per pint lager and the nightclubs were around £1.20 per pint! 8O

Salt mines, gas chambers...8O

What have i let myself in for!!!!

Thanks for the link Les!! Sounds nice and cheap too!

My boss has just gone there on business (i hope his flight gets canceled coming back and he's stranded there ) ive not been but one of the lads here in the job said it's dirt cheap and lots to see and do.
