Please help me choose 1 of these 3 options.... thanks.

Hey,

Me and my wife Rach are arriving on Sat 3rd Sept, and leaving on Sat 10th Sept, and staying at the Lux Mar in Figuretas. I've been to Ibiza once before (3 weeks in '95 - fave venue was Pacha), and Rach has never been.

I'm sorry if this topic turns out to be a long read, but realistically speaking , this will be our last visit, so we're looking to make the best of it we can.

We're trying to tie down which clubs to hit during our 1 week, and have come up with the 3 options below, but are having real trouble deciding between them. We'd really appreciate any advice anyone can offer.

Our budget can only stretch to hitting clubs on 4 nights... Sun & Mon are definites, so we've gone for Wed & Fri as the other nights so they're well spaced out. We definitely want to visit Space, Amnesia, Pacha and Privilege, which means visiting each place only once, but are considering trying to squeeze in a visit to El Divino too.

Here are the 3 options we've come up with...

OPTION 1
Saturday.......3rd..OFF
Sunday.........4th..WLS @spc (Sasha,Groove Armada,James Zabiela,Smokin' Jo,Paul Woolford)
Monday.........5th..Cocoon @amna (Sven Väth,Tiefschwarz) then Manu @priv (Fischersp,Andy Carroll,Colin Peters)
Tuesday........6th..OFF
Wednesday..7th..Subliminal @pach (Erick Morillo,Andy B,Crooklyn Clan,Mucho Muchacho,Seb Fontaine)
Thursday......8th..OFF
Friday...........9th..Miss Moneypennys @el div (Freemasons)

Option 1 is about fitting El Divino in as well as the other 4, and is the only option that includes going there. Would you say El Divino is a "must visit" venue? This option means having to do both Cocoon and Manumission on the same night. It also means ending our holiday with Miss Moneypennys, which as yet I'm not too keen on.

OPTION 2
Saturday.......3rd..OFF
Sunday.........4th..WLS @spc (Sasha,Groove Armada,James Zabiela,Smokin' Jo,Paul Woolford)
Monday.........5th..Manumission @priv (Fischersp,Andy Carroll,Colin Peters)
Tuesday........6th..OFF
Wednesday..7th..La Troya @amn (DJ Oliver & Foam Party)
Thursday......8th..OFF
Friday...........9th..Pure Pacha vs Renaissance @pacha (Pete Tong,Jade Jagger pr Jezebel,Scenario,John Digweed,Marcus James)

Option 2 is about visiting La Troya, which I've read has great athmosphere but not so good music, and also it lets Rach try a foam party (at least I managed to convince her to avoid the DJ Sammy water party). But this option ends with Pure Pacha, which I read is too busy and I'm not that keen on Tong. Is Pure Pacha still likely to be that busy on friday 9th as isn't it after peak season & before the main closing weeks?

OPTION 3
Saturday.......3rd..OFF
Sunday.........4th..WLS @spc (Sasha,Groove Armada,James Zabiela,Smokin' Jo,Paul Woolford)
Monday.........5th..Manumission @priv (Fischersp,Andy Carroll,Colin Peters)
Tuesday........6th..OFF
Wednesday..7th..Subliminal @pach (Erick Morillo,Andy B,Crooklyn Clan,Mucho Muchacho,Seb Fontaine)
Thursday......8th..OFF
Friday...........9th..Made in Italy @amn(Alex Neri,Les Schmitz,Manga,Peace Division,Ricky Montanari)

Option 3 is about ending the holiday with Made in Italy rather than Moneypennys or Pure Pacha. This means replacing La Troya with Subliminal on wednesday. I wouldn't mind checking out the Subliminal night although I've read some people say some bad things about it like the music style isn't best suited to pacha, and that it's too busy.

So our main concerns are these:
- If I choose 1, I think I end the holiday on the worst of the friday night options, and monday night will be expensive and a hassle
- If I choose 2, I have to do Tong on our last night instead of Made in Italy
- If I choose 3, I miss La Troya

We like most styles of music.... house & house classics, funky house (but not too much vocal stuff), tech house (if it's quite fast, tuff & twisted), trance, hard trance and techno. Generally we like it intense and quite fast, but not really to hard house style any more.

Taking that into account, we're mostly interested in a great athmosphere, where the crowd are really up for having a great night and not just standing around drinking beer. We's also like to avoid any nights that are likely to be only half full.

My gut feeling is telling me that it's gonna come down to option 2 or 3, meaning it come down to a choice of either:
a) La Troya (wed) and Pure Pacha (fri-last night), or
b) Subliminal (wed) and Made in Italy (fri-last night)

Taking into account the DJ line-ups too, which option would you choose, and which would you recommend to us?

Thanks a lot for taking the time for reading this.

Dave.

:D

I would def do La Troya, the foam party is in the main room so you can avoid that if you're on the terrace.

If you've never done Manumission before I'd do that, it's not the best musically but I think everyone should do it the once.

Pure Pacha will still be rammed in September, it's the busiest night @ Pacha, I've had some pretty good nights there depending on who the guests are.

I wouldn't bother with Miss Moneypennys tbh, same old same old funky house. If you really wanted to do El Divinos have you thought about OM records on Weds night there??

Not going to be able to give you much help on the music, but I would choose option 1, but change the friday to option 3 :D

Space is a must, we're going to Space that night and we're also going to Cocoon on the Monday. Subliminal Sessions is top, Erick Morillo was ace when I saw him in June and Im not sure about Made In Italy, but I think we're giving it a go this time. Also I do believe if you eat in the Kanya bar between 7pm amnd 12am you get free tickets to it, so that cant be bad! ;) So then you can justify doing 2 clubs on Monday night ;)

At the end of the day,its your last trip to Ibiza, so make the most of it :D

If you dont mind me asking why is it your last trip?

Hope this helps :)

Yeah, I really think I'd feel dissapointed if I miss La Troya. Do you know what time the foam starts kicking out, and is there any problem getting back to Ibiza Town when your soaked?

I did it twice on my last visit and absolutely loved it. I'm not too keen on the change in direction of their music policy since then, but Rach has never been so it's a definite one. Any comments on what Fischerspooner are like? I gotta say, I don't really like their Odyssey album, but read their stage show is good. Do you know what time they come on?

Thanks, as I feel I'll probably end up doing the Troya/Pure Pacha option, I'm kinda hoping the decision will be made easy by people will tell me PP is great.

I think that if at all, we'll may get to El Divino by drinking too much on the first Saturday night, and end up saying sod the budget and going to Hed Kandi!

Thanks a lot for your tips.

I'm always on the terrace, I rarely go into the main room @ La Troya but the foam only comes on at the end. You probably won't be that soaked but you won't have a problem getting back. If you go to Dome bar beforehand you can often pick up cheaper tickets.

I've not been to Manumission for years so I don't know what it's like, if you do a search for Manumission you should be able to read people's views who have been this year. Also remember they normally give you reduced price wristbands for the Carry On so you sneak another visit to Space in ;)

Hey Sweet,

Firstly... I love that tune. It's right at the front of my box of '91 vinyl, and looking very sorry for itself through years of use!

I doubt we'd do both Cocoon and Made in Italy as we would prefer to avoid doing the same venue twice, due to the cost. Free entry would help. I've only read one person on this forum saying about the Kanya meal free entry to MiItaly. Have you heard the same thing from anywhere else?

I'm really looking forward to WLS, probably more so that any other night. I've read a few people saying that Groove Armada have been bad. Do you (or anyone else) know whether it will be GA as a whole or just Andy Cato doing a DJ set. I saw Andy Cato at a club called Neighbourhood in London earlier this year, and he awesome.

I know it'll turn out great whichever way we play it. That's one of the things about this place, there are just too many great choices, and so many other things you just don't have the time or budget to fit in.

We're coming this year because we still love to dance, because Rach has never been, and because there is nowhere else like it in the world for it's nightlife. Yes, it's a beautiful island too, but there a heaps of other beautiful places around the world. Let's be honest, what is unique about the place is it's incredible nightlife.

I think it'll be our last trip mainly because there are so many other amazing and places in the world to visit as well, and there's only a limited number of holidays in your life to see them especially as we're getting a bit long in the tooth now... I'm 32, Rach is 36.

Thanks for your advice.

Dave

It's both of them.

I wouldn't do both Cocoon and Manumission on the same night if I were you.

Cocoon really kicks later on, and at Manumission the bands start at 4am.

There's plenty going on at both nights to keep you amused till 6 or 7am.

Hi Mick

Fischerspooner traumatized me. Worst thing I have seen EVER. The guy runs around like a diva in a white leotard, then crawls on the floor pretending to be sexy. I just looked around and tried to find someone who looked like they were enjoying themselves. They come in in short segments throughout the night. The second segment (also called the time I bolted for the door) he appeared wearing a crown and massive robe. Total diva freak IMHO.

id do option 3 but change manumission to cocoon. in my opinion it kicks manumissions a*se. also if u can afford to do 2 clubs in one day i'd do dc10 then cocoon on the monday, instead of cocoon then manumission

women get into made in italy free if they go to kanya beforehand and im pretty sure that men can get free tickets too through having something to eat at kanya. made in italy has been kicking off this year so, especially if its your last visit, i wouldn't miss it.

another idea for you is to go to underground on wednesday night for mr c, free in down there so could go down for a little while before subliminal. this night isn't advertised anywhere but iits definately on

On Monday: If you never did Manumission before, just do it once at least. It's very impressive the first time. But if you like techno/minimal/electro much more than house/progressive, I'd rather go to Cocoon.

On Wednesday: As you'll go in September, La Troya will be definitely the place to go on Wednesdays. This August many people complained about the sardines tin Amnesia was during La Troya. Moreover it's lost a big part of its attractive in comparison with previous years. But in Sept I think it'll be ok.

And why don't you do any party at Space? If you don't want to go after-hours, just go to rest early and wake up at 9 or 10am. It worth it. Anyway, if you don't want to go by day, you can go to Carl Cox's night on Tuesdays, or Viva with Steve Lawler on Thursday nights.

Hi Tiff...

I was hoping they'd be on only once, but maybe I can manage to look the other way! lol.

@ dizzy, morbyd & Tigervic....

I would quite happily give Manumission a miss, Cocoonj would be more my thang... but Rach has never been there before so we'l definitely be heading there.

@ TigerVic

We are doing Space. Sunday is WLS for sure, no matter what. (If we've still got the legs, we'll try the Manumission carry-on too.)

Thanks y'all for you advice

Dave.
