I think it is suffering from marketing overkill. They mythologise it way too much. When people ultimately just want to have fun and hear good tunes.
I'd love to read a sequel to Jane Bussman's brilliant Once in a Lifetime book. She would have so much fun satirising the Pikes phenomenon.

Haha you will be disappointed. This magical place was not revealed to me even after multiple laps of the grounds.
(it was also pretty quiet so assume they only open on busy nights?)

Back of Pikes reminds me of those dark n sweaty old rave dens in London where you were never more than a torchlight away from disaster..

Sankeys in Manchester was the same. We'd sometimes literally hang from the rafters/drainpipes when it got really wild.

I'm signed up for Pete Tong's Birthday next Thursday - I've never been to Pikes, what should I expect? Heard a little about queueing for Freddies.
Basically I'd like to know what is a good time to turn up, should I expect to queue to get in for long and what the vibe is like, are most people in there on something etc.?

Say what you want about Pikes but our 2 night stay there in May will live in my mind for life. It was incredible
We arrived and checked in then sat by the pool. Phat Phil Cooper played Jessie Ware Remember Where You Are and A Man Called Adams Estelle…… it was bliss. Then Andy Wilson Came on
They couldn’t have done enough for us. We went to Freddie’s at Night and the Security seemed to know us even tho we had only been there 8 hours. Waving us out of a packed Freddie’s and saying hello. We left to go and watch the sunset on the 2nd night and when we returned a few hours later it was getting busy. We got out the Taxi and a Pikes Guy just looked at us and said “welcome back to Pikes”
I Heard Like a Prayer, You Don’t Know Me, Music Sounds Better With You, Space Cowboy and Moving On Up in Freddie’s and love or hate them Tunes it was Heaven

I’ve always wanted to stay there but I’m not sure if I’d stick out a bit as a solo hotel guest during the day

Checked in at the same time as a solo traveller.
I don’t know if he knew people there but he was in the mix with everyone about 2 later.
It’s that kind of place.
Everyone talks to each other by the pool.
Do it. You won’t be on your own for long.
We loved it so much we’re going back in September.
Ignore this. It's too scary.
I'll he there again by myself (3rd or 4th time, who remembers) in a couple days. Can confirm, v scary.
Your vegqs trip is 10x what pikes would be.
